Fascinating where Senator Taft accuses Roosevelt of occupying Iceland for the purpose of getting the US into the war. Since it was for the defense of Britain only and not the US.
I'm with Senator Taft on this one. Setting up an air base astride the convoy route for the purpose of seeking out German submarines and manning it with U.S. fliers and sailors looks to me like getting into the war. Not to say that is a good or bad thing, just that it looks, walks, quacks and flies like a duck, so it must be a duck.
