Unfortunately the local fashion critics will stone you to death if you make the worst dressed list.

nothing makes my blood boil like seeing a woman in a burkha, and seeing Life trying to mainstream that vision of evil is beyond words for me.
Enemies everywhere.

Yeah, they’re beautiful if you believe in dehumanizing women.

How can "beautiful" and "burqa" be in the same phrase?
Burqas are a crime against humanity. They are not "beautiful" under any circumstances.
I can't wait for LIFE's next article on "beautiful" things that humiliate humankind: "Beautiful Prisoner Garb", "Beautiful Slave Chains", and "Beautiful Chastity Belts."

Dementor, dementor!!!

American women should be clamoring for these. I’m sure they would go over very well in summer in Miami, Phoenix, Death Valley...
Yep, what a thing of beauty. Really puts to shame those formal gowns the hollywood women wear on red carpet occassions.

I am sorry but there are aesthetic qualities in theses pictures... It's not because we hate a concept (like war for example) that it doesn't make it an interesting photographic subject. Some of these pictures are quite fascinating
Doesnt mean I approve of Burqas
far from it

Notice they never any more discuss the ‘beauty’(sic) of the life behind the Burka - women who are subjected to pure slavery and torture. Women who will have their faces burned with acid, cut, or worse, blinded or noses cut off, if they ever exposed their face.
Life used to talk about this, back in the 80s, especially what was going on in Afghanistan. But alas, it is no longer politically correct to say someone else’s culture is wrong. They would rather just use these women to sell magazines.

There are five comments after the article. Two of them are from Muzzes complaining that they got technical details wrong and that means there should be more muzzes on their staff. This is so profoundly sick and wrong—glorifying the imprisonment and torment of women is something that Satan rejoices in. We all ought to sign in there and give Life our frank opinions.
