I have difficulty worrying about the fairness of UT’s having to kick money to less affluent schools when UT receives the $8.8 billion Texas PUF and other Texas universities do not (except A&M).

And they do all of that under a not-for-profit status tax status. I don't mind one iota that taxpayers are subsidizing universities but building athletic empires is not part of the university's basic mission. If someone wants to write a check to these greedy bastards to build another athletic shrine so the hacky-sack players can have a new studyhall, fine write it, but just don't expect the rest of us to subsidize it as tax deductible donation.
