From wiki: The most obvious visible difference between the two groups is that porpoises have shorter beaks and flattened, spade-shaped teeth distinct from the conical teeth of dolphins.
I think dolphins can get to be twice as large also.

What is the distinction between a dolphin and a porpoise Dolphins send more lobbyists to Washington. Case in point: you don't see any "porpoise-safe" labels on tuna, do you?
