The police have other contact numbers besides 911. This doesn’t sound like something that rises to the level of ‘emergency’, which is what 911 is for.

You may be right - but the extra ten minutes it would have taken to pull over, look up the number, make the call, and make the report, (after negotiating the 6 choices on the police number recording), gets the truck at least ten miles farther down the road and to an interstate junction.

The timliness of getting it checked out did have aspects of emergency, imo.

That statement brought a small chuckle from me. Just yesterday evening I recieved a call from my real estate lady that is handling the sale of my former home in my hometown. She advised me that the house had been broken into and vandalized. I went to the homepage of my hometown police dept to get the non-emergency number to make a report. Nowhere on their webpage was the number. I had to go to the city website to get the police number. Go figure..
