In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
beguile; verb
verb (used with object), -guiled, -guil·ing. 1. to influence by trickery, flattery, etc.; mislead; delude. 2. to take away from by cheating or deceiving (usually followed by of ): to be beguiled of money. 3. to charm or divert: a multitude of attractions to beguile the tourist. 4. to pass (time) pleasantly: beguiling the long afternoon with a good book.

It’s the principle of the thing. You are teaching $ for nothing, which is bad. I still go back to the FallS Church HS band and choir coming to my door to ask for $ to go to Europe. i was incredulous. We pay $$$$tuition and $$$ every dime for my kids on any team to do ANYTHING, and you want me to give you $ for nothing? EARN IT, for heavens sake. have a bake sale, carwash etc.
