Personal tastes, I suppose. I took a liking to mine the second I picked it up at the dealer. I never had a jam, FTF, or FTE to with mine. Once I put the Pachmayer finger groove grip on it, I could actually rapid fire it and keep rounds on target. The only "flaw" is that once in every two or three mags, one of the trash-can sized cases would eject right towards the shooter's face. I found it a good way to onvince people of the need for shooting glasses :-)
It's certainly a large weapon, but I found mine to be accurate far beyond anything I'd expected it to be, and exceptionally well made. I never shot a .44 DE. I'm wondering if the rimmed cartridge may have caused the jamming issues you experienced....
It definately comes down to what you like to shoot. I like S&W N-frame revolvers and 1911-A1’s. I like the Sig P-226 as well. Unfortunately, I lost all of my guns in a boating accident this past spring.
