The alarming new drug bath salts is not the same as the bath salts which many people use for softer skin when they bathe. This new substance, which also has other innocuous names such as Monkey Dust, White Ivory or Kryptonite, is a synthetic drug that has seen an increase in use in Bangor and northern Maine since late last year.
Last week, we had a 22 yo kid in my town take it. Later that evening, lying in the middle of US Route 1 he was run over and died.

In the case of addictive substances, supply creates demand.
That is an inescapable fact. That is why the cigarette companies would hand out free cigarettes.
So what IS this stuff? I’ve never heard of it before. What does it do?
Don’t know. Do know EMMC earlier this year saw 1 or 2 cases a week in ED and now they see at least 1 a day. Do know county jails won’t take them unless they’re have no symptoms.
We have Keynesian Marxist economics.....so the laws of economics don’t apply.
Government interference destroys responsibility and creates unprecedented stress on households and destroys the family support. It is why the “drug epidemic” exists in the first place.....government interference. People don’t suffer the consequences of their actions in a welfare, socialist state and can afford to be careless and still live, supported by the productive, hard working suckers.
Looks like nasty stuff.
I gotta wonder sometimes if this isn’t just nature’s way of culling the herd. But after all these years of watching this stuff, I don’t feel like I’ve gotten any closer to the answer. If there is one.
I can tell you from working Psych, anyone who ends up with psychotic episodes after taking this...
1.) Had problems before taking it, most likely undiagnosed
2.) Is very likely to abuse another substance if available.
It’s not “this stuff”. It’s a propensity for trying chemicals to alter reality.
If it was the same number people showing up at the doctor’s office with the flu, would they consider it an epidemic?
Not me. I'd just rather not run them over. It's hard enough avoiding all the deer and moose up here.
Of course not because this number of cases of the flu, in a given human population, and during a given period, would not substantially exceed what is expected based on recent experience.
That's racist!
Sorry, I couldn't resist. Now excuse me while I go shake down "Cracker Barrel" for some guilt-bucks!
LOL! Thanks for posting. I was thinking the same thing when I read that sentence.
Such excellent influences are all too rare. Good job.
Yeah “bath salts” are dangerous designer drugs, made in China, marketed via independent “convenience stores”, targeting poor and ignorant USA teenagers, that have already been banned in Florida.
Kind of job security for “Psych” workers, don't you think?
Are you in a union job?
Or just a complete idiot?
Awhile back I posted an article here about bath salts here in Louisiana. The Parish I live in banned it and not too long afterwards the State of Louisiana banned it. It is some nasty stuff. The effects can linger for days. A few people here in my parish committed suicide after taking it, one took his life days after he took the stuff. Nasty stuff.
This is an article about an investigative report done by the Minneapolis Star Trib. normally I take a ll of their writings with a huge grain of salt, but a lot of these drugs are hallucinogenic and have similar or mimicing qualities to angel dust (PCP). almost anyone that takes that crap can become a psychotic - you don't need to be previously 'round the bend for that to happen...
If you search bath salts here at FR you will come up with some disturbing articles.
thanks for your posts.
