Lazenby was the married Bond. I always think of Lazenby as the emotional Bond crying over his wife’s death at the hands of evildoers.Whatever happened to the there’s no crying in spying rule. RIP, George.
The only Bond I have ever met. He was at Dragoncon a few years back. I did get an autograph and sat through a panel or two of his. Seemed like a good guy.
Oops, sorry just realized it was a birthday rather than a death. Happy birthday, George.
Happy birthday to Mr. Lazenby.
RIP? He’s still among the living.
Hopefully he is RIP with vodka martini, shaken, not stirred. :-)
Lazenby has said his biggest career mistake was not to take the offer for a
second Bond movie. It made everyone think he was not offered the part b/c
producers thought he was not a good Bond. His movie career went nowhere.
Lazenby and then-wife tennis star Pam Shriver in 2008.
If I was married to Diana Rigg and somebody just wacked her, I would be crying too.
I always thought that it was a pity they didn’t give him another shot as 007. Roger Moore was a little too swishy for me.
Roger Moore was a little too swishy for me....He was a Saint, not a 007.
Agree, Roger Moore was well, uh, you know.....
George Lazenby played the Bond role superbly and was offered the 007 spot in “Diamonds Are Forever”. But IIRC he didn’t want to be typecast.
Anyway, a happy 72nd (only nine years away for me) to a vintage Bond!
FWIW, since OHMSS my favorite handgun has been the Walther PPK. Too bad it doesn’t come in .45 ACP, though.
This is a schocker. Who would have guessed that Lazenby would have aged better than other Bonds. He still looks like Bond.
