This is archive footage from the morning shows on 9/11/2001.
I had not seen any of it because I was at work.
View this video.
This moving video is the most viewed of any of the 9/11 videos and is now in the Smithsonian.

Be sure to read (at the site) Anatomy Of The Attack and the moving essay, That Day by Steve Golding, a New Yorker who lived through it.

Watching these films infuriates me all over again.
Thank you.
I was in the countryside near Saratoga,NY that morning. Was only able to listen to what was happening by radio.
You know, I don’t think I’m ready for this reliving of such an awful day. I don’t need to be reminded, it’s still vivid in my mind. We were stationed at Pendleton, and it was terrifying. The base slammed into full lockdown, and all Hell broke loose, and nothing has been the same since. I don’t need to “remember”; I never forgot. I’m sure everyone here feels simlar, and those who do need to remember wouldn’t ever recall that day for what it really was—a full blown terrorist attack on American soil by those who did, and still do want to destroy us. They want to make it all PC and cozy. Sorry for the mini rant, but I have really been getting upset about the way the media is handling this.
I’m sorry - I didn’t mean to stir up bad memories for you.
I spent 9/11 taking care of other people and didn’t see any news coverage, so for me, I wanted to see the coverage.
My reply was intended to be directionless (or at least directed at those who wish to whitewash that day, and they aren’t here). I re-read my reply, and it’s rude. I apologize, as I didn’t intend to come across that way, but I am guilty of hitting reply without thinking, and I have no excuse for that. I offer sincere apologies.
No problem....
My husband won’t watch it either.
Thank you for the apology but not necessary.
Thank you.....just as moving today as it was ten years ago.
I’ve probably seen that video-no exaggeration- 50 times, and it still makes me cry every single time. Thanks for posting.
Thanks.
It still makes me cry too.
I’ve never seen that. Incredibly powerful. I plan to email this to everyone in my contacts page, and paste it on my facebook page on 9-11. The Enya tune made it even more poignant. Wow. I hate crying in the middle of a Friday afternoon, but that was well worth it.
Yes, isn’t it moving?
It makes me cry every time.
I’m glad you’re passing it around.
Go to NY Post.com; there’s an interesting article about the new 9/11 museum. It features a bunch of artifacts that are going to be part of the exhibit. Warning- it’s a heartbreaker.
Thanks.
