Modern music sucks
Posted on 08/23/2011 10:55:38 PM PDT by Rockerwolf
Because going back to the 60's,70's,and 80's there was good music like the Rolling Stones,The Beatles,Buffalo Springfield,Iron Maiden,Led Zeppelin and such.
Compared to modern music which seems to be mostly about image over whether they can play. I'll take "Stairway to Heaven" over Lady Gaga any day.
Because it seems they have turned the whole music industry into a beauty contest and not if a person can play a instrument like bass, guitar, drums,or such.

Have you actually listened to the lyrics of country music?
“Just a swangin”
“She thinks my tractor’s sexy”
“The way she pushed that bottle to her lips, I wished I was a beer”
Faster Pussycat is classical literature compared to that crap.

Music on the RADIO sucks... the best music today is not played on the radio. There are some great bands out there.
That being said I prefer classic rock to today’s bands but it’s not as bad if you get away from the crap on radio.

That’s a rather limited cross of country lyrics. How ‘bout:
There’s no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I’ve come to know - Zac Brown
Keep your heart above your head and your eyes wide open - Zac Brown
Life’s not the breaths you take, but the moments that take your breath away - George Straight
G_d is great, beer is good, and people are crazy - Billy Currington
She thinks we’re just fishin’ - Trace Adkins
Your point is taken, but Country Music can run the whole spectrum from just plain fun to extremely profound. The best part about Country is the stories. The stories always bring me back to where I came from and remind me to appreciate the little things in life.

good, modern (pop/r&b) music pretty much ended with stevie wonder. i like some metal and old goth, but the talent and creativity is nowhere near what stevie wonder used to put out.
but if you want real music with real talent, you have to start with big band and work your way back.

The prevalence of autotune in modern pop songs is the strongest evidence yet that music is getting worse.

Here in my hometown I've been in a couple of places that sell guitars that have big signs posted saying "NO STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN".
I suppose those guys are as sick of it as a lot of other folks are.

You'd probably enjoy Incubus as well, then. Go back a ways and check out their CD Morning View. They slide very easily in and out of a metal/hard rock sound and into a variety of things, very underrated band.

You know what happens when you play a country records, don’t ya?

BTW, check out Scott Copeland's
Rebel Soul. He's a local star here in FTW. The dude writes all of his music. He's a damn genius. You'd like the rest of his music too.

All this machinery making modern music can still be open hearted,
not so fully charted, it's really just a question of your honesty. Yeah, your honesty
