The article says that they are still unsure of what caused it. Any ideas of what may be the cause?

this already locked up my computer once, Geronimo, and I could certainly do without all the jihadi propaganda at the site you linked to last time.

Many years ago, I worked on a job in Kalkaska, Mich...Been so long I can't remember if it was an oil well or a gas well...

Worked on the installation of two very large 10 cylinder Ingersoll Rand air compressors...

These compressors pumped massive amounts of air into the ground to help force the petro up thru the pipes that were inserted into the ground to capture the petro...

Would seem plausable that the air could find a weak spot in the ground surface and shoot up like the sand in the video...Just a thought...

They have found some sand geysers when excavating in the region of old earthquakes, back east, I think. Can’t remember the name of the book I read which described it in passing.

Guess they never read about the great New Madrid quakes of 1811-12.

“THE SUBSURFACE ANATOMY OF THE BOOTHEEL’S SAND BLOWS:
REMNANTS OF THE NEW MADRID EARTHQUAKES

Earthquakes have repeatedly shattered the alluvial landforms about the Missouri Bootheel—most
recently the 1811-1812 New Madrid earthquakes. During the four greatest of earthquakes, long
fissures opened across the surface and volcanic-like sand blows erupted, venting subterranean
sands onto the surface.”
