LOS ANGELES (AP) - Soon after the lunch plates stopped rattling and books stopped thumping to the floor, shaken easterners could hear another sound from Tuesday's magnitude-5.8 quake: snickering emanating from the opposite side of the continent. "Really all this excitement over a 5.8 quake??? Come on East Coast, we have those for breakfast out here!!!!" wrote Dennis Miller, 50, a lifelong California resident whose house in Pleasanton sits on an earthquake fault line.
On Twitter and Facebook and over email, people circulated a photo of a table and four plastic lawn chairs in a serene garden setting. One of the chairs flipped on its back. The mock image carried the title "DC Earthquake Devastation."

Bush's fault! Bush's "fault"...get it?..:=)
And of course it's probably caused by man-made globalwarming!
Yeah, well the Southern Californians wouldn’t be chortling if they got whacked with a foot of snow. We get that here about six times every winter.
Have you ever been in any of the hotels in the areas where this east coast quake hit? They need to be inspected.
Yup, more proof of globalwarming...
ROFLMAO, already Bush’s legacy..:=)
Now THAT would be funny.
Come on East Coast, we have those for breakfast out here!!!!”

Yep , and you are welcome to them. The Fires, the Mud slides, the earthquakes, and your politicians,like Nancy and Maxine, Feinstein, and the Pig man Waxman.
Keep them all out west.
Touche!
yes.
when i worked in wa wa d.c.
my office friends warned me that i would fall off into the
pacific ocean due to l.a. earthquakes.
I never understand the whole “our disasters are worse than yours” attitude. Hey, I can appreciate anyones reaction to natural stuff. If you’ve never been in a small tornado, it doesn’t have to be an F4 to freak you out. If you never see snow, half an inch can be pretty difficult to deal with.
In the famous words of Rodney King....oh, no, I won’t go THAT far. :) Carry on.
Hey you guys elected Wiener, Frank, Obama, Biden, Kennedy, etc., etc. Not to mention TSA, EPA, OSHA, FED, and Congress. And how about Sharpton, NJ, hurricanes, blizzards, and just general smog and dirt. Easterners who live in glass houses still have to clean them.
The opening of Greta’s show this evening was over the top - the hype was shameful. I mean granted, we’re not used to this out here in the East but there also needs to be some perspective when reporting what happened.
Boys, boys, this is a family friendly forum, chill out..:=)
I thought it was pretty cool, since no one got hurt (that I know of.) My first quake. Building shook. It was something different, alright!
I knew they would think it was silly for us to make a big thing out of this, but I think this is cause for concern. It’s “the biggest earthquake in human history in Virginia.”
Not good.

Structures in the NE aren't built to withstand quakes. High winds and water, yes, but quakes - nope.
That’s just a stupid post. I hope you were joking.
