They don’t have outdoor spigots in Utah?
As a kid, any hose was fair game as we were out all day playing, riding bikes etc. and figured a little kid didn’t need to ask either.
In college was on a school surveying class where we had to measure stuff in a suburb - and at least had grown up enough to ask permission first. After we had our drink, one lady came out with lemonaide and cookies for our 4-person group of students set up in the street in front of her house and we sad under her shade tree enjoying the break.
Another day some lady yelled at me for asking to use her hose! She later came out to ask what I was doing surveying out in the street. I said “Oh - you didn’t get the notice? The new I-75 bypass is coming through here.” She started getting all mad and I told her “Well, I’m sorry, but we’re just the surveyors, I don’t know anything else. Perhaps try calling the DOT.” (Well - perhaps as a college kid I wasn’t QUITE all grown up yet!)
