I’ve been wondering what happened to the remake of “butch cassidy and the sundance kid” I heard about a few years ago.

I have been watching those Zatoichi black and white shows. I do not have high speed internet so have to order the dvd’s from Netflix.

Although the idea that a blind person could have such incredible senses is pretty ridiculous, they are very entertaining.

Something interesting to me is the girls. About half of them truly are beautiful but about half are really plain or even ugly. The Japanese must have a different idea of beauty.

They do manage to have just about the right mixture of comedy, not too much but enough.

I loved that scene where the grandfather is sitting at the kitchen table and says “Im sooo confused.”

How about..
The Great Santini...

and what was the one with Jack Nicholson as the aging astronaut with shirley Mclain?

But my ALLTIME favorite is: ANIMAL HOUSE

“I think that this situation absolutely requires a really futile and stupid gesture be done on somebody’s part!
We’re just the guys to do it.”

Somebody else has a long list here.

Magnolia was an excellent film in spite of Tom Cruise. Blade Runner was also very good.

One can raise a lot of objections to Goodfellas and Pulp Fiction (also Reservoir Dogs) and The Matrix but they did more to change movie-making than just about anything else. It wasn't always change for the better, but they were all worth seeing.

Brazil
The Mission

Someone mentioned This Is Spinal Tap and will heartily second that recommendation.

Pan’s Labyrinth
Hellboy I and II — both were excellent, as is pretty much anything by Guillermo del Toro as far as I can tell.

This thread has reminded me that I need to see The Lives of Others.

Although better known for the YouTube parodies, “Downfall” is an excellent movie.

I found it interesting that the writers of the Secretariat movie were clever enough to present the story in such a way as to keep you excited that Secretariat might lose..

..in spite of the fact that I listened to the race when it happened, therefore, I knew for sure the outcome.

The Lives of Others is the best political movie ever made, and one of the best films of all time.

Especially poignant if you actually speak German, but even with the subtitles is highly watchable.

Lots of great films, but I failed to post The Patriot earlier.
