The video you are about to watch was filmed by a driver who stopped along the freeway with many others just outside Al-Ahsa City, in Saudi Arabia. Throughout the last few years there have been many theories put forth as to what caused this phenomenon. Along with those theories, various names have been used to describe it, like "Sand Geyser," "Sand Fountain," "Sand Volcano," and "Sand Injectites." The quality of the video is not the best because it was filmed with a cell phone, and the person who filmed it has not ever identified himself. However, the video is good enough to show that something very powerful was taking place in the desert that day.
The video was taken in 2006, but to this day there is very limited information about what exactly happened to create such a spectacular eruption. Try as I have, I could not find any information about the phenomenon that would bring me any closer to understanding what happened that day. So after 5 years it seems that whatever took place is still a mystery.
What I did learn about the phenomenon was that there was no seismic activity recorded at the time, and witnesses reported that no water or oil mixed in the sand. There was also no evidence of a natural gas leak, as many of the people standing around were smoking and no fires erupted. Adding to the mystery is that there have been no reports of another such event happening anywhere in the world since.
At the time, it was reported that the Saudi government sent out scientists and geological experts from the state-run Aramco Oil Company to investigate the phenomenon. However, after 5 years they have yet to release their findings to the public.
This actually falls in line with the way the royal family handles situations about events which they themselves are confused about. The House of Saud keeps a very tight rein on their subjects, and they do so by taking advantage of their religious beliefs.

Hydraulic fracturing in Pennsylvania is causing this. We must shut down natural gas drilling in the US!!!!!!!
The 12th Imam had Mexican.
Every time a Muslim says a prayer a demon is conjured.
Actually, they are going gangbusters in drilling for natural gas in Wyoming & ND.
You might want to double check your sources, because those states economies are rolling like gangbusters. I have a friend who’s brother-in-law is raking in big bucks drilling up there using the fractured method you described.
Come again?
If the earth under SA is porous, and the day the event was filmed has especially low barometric pressure, then an easy explanation is release of trapped, compressed air. The air would want to seep out everywhere, but if there were a weak point (where the overlaying sand was shallowest and therefore weighed the least) more air would rush out there than anywhere else, and if the sand were blown out, it would represent an even smaller resistance to the continued release of trapped air from that same place. So it all vents from right there.
We live in Gnu Yak but have a camp on a Lake in PA...it is amazing the increase in activity just 10 miles away!!
How many times do we have to tell them to quit burying Al Gore in the sand after he has eaten broccoli!
Makes sense.
Since there appears to be little accumulation of new sand, obviously what is erupting is a clear gas. Most likely, air.
Maybe the inlet is a cave far away.
ask al gore:
it’s a ma earth phart.
Not saying this is bogus, but this is the same site and writer who was posted on here yesterday saying that the 3/5 compromise in the US constitution had to do with the Founders believing that blacks were less than human.
Oh and it was also claimed that the site, NewsBlaze, is Glenn Becks. It isn’t.
No, I know the author, and he never said the authors of the constitution thought that. He said that many white Americans thought blacks were less than human, but they have obviously gotten past their racist history because an majority of white people elected a black man as their president.
He is also right, during the first 80 years of our country man, many Southerners considered blacks to be sub human. But he never once stated in his article what you claim he stated.
When he said a country that once considered blacks to be 1/5 human, and he was talking about the people, not the constitutional requirement for counting for the purpose of the census and representation of the South during a time when America aloud the Southern states to have slaves.
You need to get your facts straight.
Yup. But I heard that the enviros are blaming all kinds of things on fracing — earthquakes, gasses used seeping into ground water, etc. They are trying to shut it down.
Only time will tell.
