Every night after 9:00pm our internet becomes slower than Obama's economic recovery plan. The kid can't play his games(gets kicked out) and using the web is slower than balls. Is this an internet issue or some other problem? Your assistance is greatly appreciated. Oh, yes im logged in...
more people use it, the speed slows down.
Cable Internet service is shared. In other words, if all your neighbors get online, your service slows down.
That, or your neighbor’s kid is piggybacking on your wireless network and streaming a movie.
That’s right about when our cable started to slow down, too. We switched to dsl.
I’m a Florida customer as well, and pay for the increased speed... It basically sucks for reliability. I liked brighthouse better. Actually got the speed I paid for. But our building is wired for Comcast. Oh well.
Thanks for the input all. Frustrating AND a ripoff..
It can vary. Comcast, from my experience, does some âweirdâ things. It has been a few years since I’ve used them though. Calling customer service to local offices had locals lying to me. The local office deal generally yielded a quick fix in my experience.
The pipe is only so thick... bandwidth or throughput or what you might call it is going to slowdown when everyone is home and watching cable or online.
You probably have Microsoft autoupdates turned on and it starts at 9pm everyday.
Ideas? Yes - more people are logged in surfing porn and videos at night which slows the net down. You didn’t know that?
Take a look at your automatic system tools - disk clean-up, defrag, downloading and installing updates, virus scan, etcc. These can be set to run at a certain time, and with some systems, can really bog them down...

Comcast updates its cable preview several times every twenty four hours. I have noticed that this also causes problems accessing some channels and the On Demand menu. I imagine that this would have a similar effect in degrading Internet performance.
I noticed mine gets slower and slower as the 20th gets closer.. ( billing cycle) then I pay the bill and she speeds up tremendously...then it starts all over...!
That’s weird...
I finally figured out that the problem started about the time I added another TV set. The problem was eliminated when the set was disconnected and would recur when it was connected again. I just stopped using the set.
A similar problem started again a couple of months ago, but with no TV set addition (at least at my house). This time, other neighbors also reported the same problem. Charter finally replaced a bad board in a station about a mile away, and the problem was fixed. The fix took several weeks, since the service people would only come during the day, when everything worked OK.
I have kept with the local phone company for telephone and a DSL line for Internet. They are utterly reliable — even when Comcast cable goes dodgy after a lightning strike.
It is possible you have something going on on one of your computers or network.
Check for unexplained devices connected to your router. Check the network activity on each computer that is connected to your router.
Thanks will do..
