What passes for graffiti in Washington D.C. these days... (VANITY)

Posted on 08/18/2011 2:06:26 PM PDT by bayliving

Here is a picture that of some graffiti I saw today while driving home on the Rock Creek Parkway in Washington D.C., I believe the bridge is the Key Bridge but I can't be sure.

I was so shocked to see it that I took a picture of it while sitting in traffic so I could post it here for my fellow Freepers to enjoy, so.....

Enjoy!

Ok, I have been to the HTML Sandbox 2011 and tried and tried and tried to upload this image and I can't seem to do it.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Your photo must first be posted to a public access website, then link to your photo on that site in your FR post.

"Any and all help would be greatly appreciated."

Is the photo you are trying to link been uploaded to the internet?

If not then that is the first step.

You would need to open up an account with Flickr or Photobucket and up load the picture there. Once that is done you need to enter the Html code

< img src="URL Address of pboto here" > and it should work.

It looks like you figured it out. Isn’t this from the same guy who wrote, “Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy”

That’s really cool. What is the bet that the “Graffiti Clean Up Crew” will make sure that is the first on their list to get to instead of the foul language stuff we usually see?

Looks like you are trying to upload from your home computer. You need to upload the photo to a site like photobucket.com (which is what I use and free for a basic account) and copy the html tag and paste it into your post.

Photobucket

I did that and for whatever reason, it just wouldn't work but someone posted it for me...

What I did was go to the photoshop album you were trying to link to, copied the url of the image, went to tinypic.com, uploaded it there, and then linked the image back to freerepublic.com using the img tag.

A lot of photo websites won't let you live link to an image (IE: access it from another website), because what would happen is that a lot of websites would dump their images there, and no longer have to pay for traffic bandwidth for that image, photoshop.com or someone else would do it.

Only downfall to tinypic and the rest is a limit on the amount of times it can be viewed.. For a vanity, it's fine, but a big thread, it'd run out of views probably within minutes.

Let's just say that I don't expect to see it tomorrow...

Very cool. I’d like to see more ‘graffitti’ like that, too.

I remember the days of grafitti artists who took great pride in their work - now it’s just cowards with a spray can who can barely spell profanity, and who choose to immortalize their own initials instead of their immaginative minds.

Well, the message is good but the means are not. Grafitti is vandalism. We should never tolerate criminal behavior from the right. Read the history of the original Tea Party — many of the founders were opposed to it, calling it a mob action, and Edmond Burke quit supporting the revolution for a time as a result of it.

While I agree with you that this is vandalism and is wrong no matter what the message, I have to admit, I smiled as I was taking the picture.

Especially given where this message was written. I can only imagine the number of people that are sitting at home right now fuming over having read it... :-)
