Ladies & Gentlemen: Any other recommendations? Do you disagree with anything on this list or wish something else had been included?

A 357 revolver is a nice one too, you can shoot 38 special round through it for target shooting and the 357 rounds for stopping power.

Glad to see it was mostly semi-autos. There is a myth among male shooters that the “little lady” needs a tiny revolver in a mouse-caliber.

My wife has a Smith and Wesson Ladysmith in .357. It’s from the same ‘family’ as the 642 on the list (’J’ Frame?), but it’s stainless steel insetad of aluminum, so it’s a bit heavier than the .38+P 642. Her Ladysmith also has rosewood grips instead of pink rubber. It is a fine and very reliable weapon.
She also has a Taurus PT 111 (possibly an older version of the Millenium Pro 111 on the list?). It is chambered for 9 mm and has also been a very reliable weapon.

Why such small caliber pistols? Women deserve a 45, too. My wife loves her Kimber Ultra-Carry Raptor (It's purse sized!):

I love my little Colt 25 automatic...and if that doesn’t stop an intruder, I can grab my Mossberg 510 pump action 20 gauge...I might go down, but I’ll go down fightin’!

I had a Tomcat follow be home from my last visit to the gun store. Best little gun I have ever fired. Doesn’t spank your hand like other minis, and has a very safe way of removing the loaded round when you want to put it in safe mode.

I've got three friends who purchased the Ruger LCP. One returned the pistol before finishing a full mag of Speer Gold Dot. It suffered some sort of failure and I don't remember the details other than to say that he wasn't seriously injured, but he picked up the parts from the surrounding area and put them in a ZipLoc bag before sending it back to Ruger for repair. The DID say that it was covered under warranty.
As for the other two, one tells me that it's just a tad small and light. He said that if one were to shoot it for an afternoon at the range, it would probably put a blister or raw spot on your hand just because of its size. I didn't like hearing this because it's very important that one gets trigger time on a regular basis...and pistols that put a raw spot in the web of my hand are something I try to avoid. :-)
Anyway... take care. :-)

Smith & Wesson M&P Compact. Comes in either 9mm or .40cal (same size). Also comes with three sizes of back strap so you can adjust the grip for your hand. Doesn’t kick like a mule. I’ve never had any trouble racking the slide. Love it!

Just a general reaction but several of the very fine guns recommended are configured as lightweight or “airweight” type designs. Given what looks like a presumption that the female shooter is not as robust as the typical male, wouldn’t a bit heavier firearm facilitate second shot capability by reducing felt recoil?
