Governor, let me ask you about immigration. How many undocumented immigrants are there in Alaska? I don't know, I don't know. That's a good question.
As governor, how do you deal with them? Do you think they all should be deported? There is no way that in the US we would roundup every illegal immigrant -there are about 12 million of the illegal immigrants- not only economically is that just an impossibility but that's not a humane way anyway to deal with the issue that we face with illegal immigration.
Do you then favor an amnesty for the 12 or 13 million undocumented immigrants? No, I do not. I do not. Not total amnesty. You know, people have got to follow the rules. They've got to follow the bar, and we have got to make sure that there is equal opportunity and those who are here legally should be first in line for services being provided and those opportunities that this great country provides.
To clarify, so you support a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants? I do because I understand why people would want to be in America. To seek the safety and prosperity, the opportunities, the health that is here. It is so important that yes, people follow the rules so that people can be treated equally and fairly in this country.

Exactly how can posting her exact words be a slam?
I see most Palin supporters as putting their own desires and ideals onto her, which she may or may not espouse.
It's also easy to talk a good game when you're thousands of miles away from the problem.
Napolitano said she perhaps needed to provide more information to Perry, who has criticized Washington on issues from border security to education to federal spending. The numbers tell the tale, Napolitano said. I would simply say, Look at the numbers. Perry has maintained the numbers are insufficient. A day before Napolitano arrived in Texas, the governor sent a letter to Obama and Napolitano expressing his disappointment that Texas would only be given 250 National Guard troops. Perry, who asked for 1,000 troops last year, called the number grossly insufficient to cover the states lengthy border with Mexico. Sending only 20 percent of these much-needed assets to Texas is unfair and inadequate, he wrote. Furthermore, when you take into account the ramp-up and ramp-down times associated with a military action of this kind, this deployment would support sustained operations for only an estimated four months
Fair enough.
(What Perry’s doing is only in the run up to his presidential campaign and only involves the border, however. Those 30 million already here, let alone counting further chain migration, will do us in if they are absorbed into the country as he would like.)
...Republican Gov. Rick Perry earned applause from the crowd [at a meeting of the Texas Border Coalition] when he said strategic fencing along the border makes sense but the idea of a complete wall or fence is preposterous.
Instead, he wants the federal government to establish a guest-worker program that will allow the government to track workers, he said.
...Perry was asked after his speech whether it was a good or bad idea to do away with citizenship as a birthright [via proposed Texas legislation].
I think any of those types of legislation that create divisions are bad, he said. We need to look at ways to be bringing people together rather than driving wedges between them.
That failure, combined with Perrys comments that the U.S.-Mexico border fence was idiocy and that efforts to deny citizenship to U.S.-born children of illegal immigrants are divisive, have rung in the ears of anti-illegal immigration conservatives.
If we do not control illegal immigration, I guarantee this country is gone. Rick Perry is another George W. Bush on Illegal Immigration.
Perry has said that the Border Fence is Stupid,
Perry has said that he is against denying citizenship to babys born in the U.S. of illegan immigrants,
Perry is for providing in-state tuition benefits to children of illegal immigrants. (That is an incentive for the Mexican illegals to keep their children in school in Texas, knowing that they will get what only U.S. Citizens in Texas receive)
We had George W. Bush, who was awful on illegal immigration, we do not need George W. Bush Jr., or Rick Perry.
Just because we want to get rid of Obama, does not mean we need to elect a loser on illegal immigration, an issue, as important as the economy.
We dont get tough on Illegal Immigration, we are done as a country.
Rick Perry will never get my vote, because of his weakness on illegal immigration and I am an American of Hispanic Heritage.

Being governor of Texas is easy because we are a right to work state and have no income tax. If you can just not screw that up, we win. We have had several attempts over the years at the income tax but were able to fight that off. Also, messing with our guns would be suicide and even most Dems shy away from that. The Texas corridor and the Guardasil controversy will hit him square in the puss right out of the gate, IMO. If it doesn't, the MSM is pulling for him thinking he's better than Bachmann or Romney. When you have been governor of a successful state, I'm sure they can find something to crow about, but lets not overlook the warts. IMO, Perry has gotten "more conservative" in the last few years. IMO, it is feaux.( That's Louisianan for false) I think he got his new stripes when he suggested Texas might secede from the union and Texans cheered. If you want to get attention in Texas, that's always a good one. A candidate in Texas that ran on seceding from the union might surprise people on the votes he/she would get. The "loser pays" law is something else Perry might crow about, but we haven't seen how that works out yet. All this is a far cry from straightening out the US. He still wouldn't close the border IMO. I like some of Paul's economic principles, but would NEVER vote him president. Perry could be just as bad as President. Having a couple of conservative principles doesn't make you presidential material. He has good hair, I guess that's a plus. I haven't heard of women fainting yet.
Perry is a RINO.
I agree but I would just substitute the word Perry for Palin.
Curious, why do you think Perry is the best candidate?
Do you also feel he is the most conservative?
Agree 100%!
“path to citizenship” is code for Amnesty.
If she was on Univision, did she at least dress like the typical Univision Talent? When in Rome and all that...
I see Palin as a good asset but her experience leaves me wondering.
My guess is if she were to win the nomination and become President she would adopt the Texas model for success, not the Alaska model because the Alaska model would never work. It's a model of taxes on energy producers and government welfare to balance budgets. It just doesn't work in the real world.
Perry knows this because Texas gives more than it gets back in tax dollars, has a 1,200 mile border with Mexico it has to secure itself and on much of it's own dime, has 25 million people and still balances the budget and has a rainy day fund as well as creating jobs. That's a micro-America, Alaska is, as Dennis Miller put it, the fridge out in the garage with a bunch of snacks in it and it's set off from the house.
Where is the logic?
Exactly! It is total BS that every illegal cannot be eventually returned to their nation of origin. If it is done by the government physically on some public frontline of identification, say when they come for medical help (and it is humanely administered with subsequent flagging of the individual as an illegal to be physically returned), to one half million illegals, then you can bet that their own self-deportation will conduct at least another five or ten million. Word travels fast.
Throw in border security, employment check, and denial of certain citizen services, it can be done, humanely, and efficiently.
The approach is a matter of their human intelligence. "They" are not that dumb. It is a matter of discipline, respect, and civil behavior, which we should be expecting in the United States. In fact the tear shedding liberalism permitting this abomination of an invasion is actually a furtive form of arrogance (on the liberal's part), the stereotype that they, the illegals, are incapable of intelligent and civil norms.

Palin is NOT pro amnesty. She had to say those things to the Spanish people at Univision because she is a savvy politician that will win the presidency easily.
I don't understand all this fuss about someone who "isn't running".
Perry folks should be really worried about Bachmann. Well actually Rollins. Bachmann needs big donor dollars. Perry (in Bachmann's view) stands between her and those dollars. We all should understand that there is no depth to which Mr. Ed will not stoop to promote his candidate (and by extension himself).
Within a month the Republican primary is going to be a blood bath thanks to Mr. Ed. As a result we will get a real glimpse into the soul of his boss.
Popcorn please.
I agree, I like Palin, but she has weaknesses.
What really gives me the creeps is the questioning she-can-do-no-wrong- attitude of her supporters. Sort of like Ron Paul or Obama Supporters.
