JOHNS CREEK, Ga. Say goodbye to Tiger Woods. You won't see him this weekend, or on the PGA Tour for at least six weeks. Woods was 10 over par after two rounds and missed the cut at Atlanta Athletic Club, the first time he's ever missed a cut in 14 PGA Championship appearances, which means he will not qualify for the Tour's FedEx Cup playoff series.
Somewhere, television executives have tears in their eyes. It was the fourth time Woods has missed the cut at a major championship. He previously failed to make the weekend at the 1996 Masters, when he was still an amateur, the 2006 U.S. Open and the 2009 British Open.
Tiger's numbers were uglier than the nation's unemployment figures. Woods followed Thursday's 77 with a discouraging round of 73 Friday in which he bogeyed the 18th hole and suffered back-to-back double bogeys earlier on the back nine after he had mounted a small charge. He made five double bogeys in his first 30 holes here, the first time he's ever had five doubles in any tournament as a pro.
In a nutshell, it's back to the drawing board for Woods on his swing reclamation project.
You may still see Woods somewhere before year's end. He could tee it up in one of the Tour's lesser Fall Series tournaments, which doesn't seem likely, and he's got appearances scheduled in Asia and Australia later this year, but he probably won't be appearing on any TV sets in the near future.
It's now possible that his next official PGA Tour event will be early in 2012, perhaps at Torrey Pines.

True, but it will be on TMZ and TruTV from here on out. I’m betting he’ll go ballistic on somebody and get arrested in the near future (or get picked up for DUI).
I might could have dredged up a little compassion for Tiger had he not been such an arrogant POS....
Tiger who?
How does a person blow out their knee and hurt their back playing golf? That’s like spraining your ankle while eating at McDonald’s.
I don’t think there’s much doubt Tiger used enhancers. Some say it messed him up physically because of the added strain on knee and possibly spine, I honestly don’t know but if he did use them it was not ethical.
Yo Tiger, keep your eye on the ball, screw everything else.
Jack Nicklaus is smiling somewhere.
What looked like a foregone conclusion just 2 years ago (breaking Jack’s major record) is now a longshot!

And
That's how he got himself into trouble in the first place.
How would steroids help your golf game?
If I had to bet money on it I’d bet you’re right. The mess he got himself into and finally got caught at brought the whole thing to a head, I’ve no sympathy for him.
Repetitive stress injury. Snapping the knee shut for 25 years to gain a 10 yard advantage. I screwed up my rotator cuff for life in just one weekend, letting the club head , flying at 120 mph, snap my shoulder at impact. I can still bench 200 lbs, but lifting my arm above my shoulder does not always work.
I remember back when Woods was in the early years of his phenomenal success, a writer said, “The only thing that will stop him is a bad injury or a bad marriage.” I don’t think the actual outcome has been what anyone would have predicted!
Agree no sympathy from me either
Except for the couple of usual suspects (one who is sadly gone) here claiming steroid use, they could never explain how being "pumped up" could equate to straighter drives and pinpoint accuracy on iron shots to the greens........
Muscle bulk, the primary result of steroid use, does not enhance one's golfing ability..........
I'm sad to see Woods in this slump, he was the sole reason I watch golf on TV.....Like him or not, he's definitely the most exciting player on the tour.....
