JOHNS CREEK, Ga. Say goodbye to Tiger Woods. You won't see him this weekend, or on the PGA Tour for at least six weeks. Woods was 10 over par after two rounds and missed the cut at Atlanta Athletic Club, the first time he's ever missed a cut in 14 PGA Championship appearances, which means he will not qualify for the Tour's FedEx Cup playoff series.
Somewhere, television executives have tears in their eyes. It was the fourth time Woods has missed the cut at a major championship. He previously failed to make the weekend at the 1996 Masters, when he was still an amateur, the 2006 U.S. Open and the 2009 British Open.
Tiger's numbers were uglier than the nation's unemployment figures. Woods followed Thursday's 77 with a discouraging round of 73 Friday in which he bogeyed the 18th hole and suffered back-to-back double bogeys earlier on the back nine after he had mounted a small charge. He made five double bogeys in his first 30 holes here, the first time he's ever had five doubles in any tournament as a pro.
In a nutshell, it's back to the drawing board for Woods on his swing reclamation project.
You may still see Woods somewhere before year's end. He could tee it up in one of the Tour's lesser Fall Series tournaments, which doesn't seem likely, and he's got appearances scheduled in Asia and Australia later this year, but he probably won't be appearing on any TV sets in the near future.
It's now possible that his next official PGA Tour event will be early in 2012, perhaps at Torrey Pines.

I am thinking Tiger will announce his retirement in the next two or three years if he doesn’t get his mojo back. Can’t see him content to be just another journeyman golfer.
“Somewhere, television executives have tears in their eyes.”

I doubt it.
Follow the money: His sponsors have bailed. The Woods delusion is over.
Out of sync - out of sight.
Mental toast.
Physically injured and mis-arranged due to poor body building techniques.
I was certain when all of his stuff came down that he was well-done and crispy, never to be heard from again.
I agree, he was pumped by the limelight and can’t hack playing second fiddle.
I can think of one other phony who will be gone in 2013 too.
Yo...chuck! This POST is for you!
I don’t follow golf or Tiger Woods closely, but is this performance drop off possibly due to the PGA starting to test their players for steriod/other drug usage? (I am not sure even if that is PGA policy, or when it began, but it makes for a good explanation.)
I don’t know why the press keeps recycling this story. Tiger winning was interesting because he was chasing records.
Tiger losing is ordinary and by now expected from him. Yet they keep acting like it’s something new.
Until or if that man ever straightens out his life and head he’ll never even approach the golfer he once was. His mind is a mess.
Testing killed his career.
Still the King!
