Student Rhiannon Brooksbank-Jones dreams of living and working in South Korea once she finishes university, even though she has never visited the country.
But while taking language lessons, the 19-year-old found that she couldn't pronounce certain crucial sounds in the Korean alphabet.
Her dentist suggested it may be because she was born with a slightly shorter than average tongue, caused by having an unusually thick lingual frenulum - the flap of skin that joins the underside of the tongue to the floor of the mouth.
Language barrier: Rhiannon Brooksbank-Jones, from Nottingham, had her tongue lengthened by 1cm to help her pronounce Korean words
After discussing the matter with her parents and language tutor, Rhiannon decided to undergo an operation to correct the condition, despite the fact it has never caused her any problems in speaking English.
She underwent a lingual frenectomy, which involves making an incision in the flap of skin. As a result, Rhiannon's tongue is now about 1cm longer, and she can say words that were impossible before.

Chick be crazy.
Obviously, LOL!
Post #2 looks more like Angelina Jolie than this plain girl.
LOL.
After considerable study and research, I'm sorry I'm just not seeing the similarity that you see, Cowboy Bob.
Wow, that last picture sure is a letdown!
Agreed, but in fairness (and kindness) it would certainly be interesting to see what the results would be after professional stylists, makeup people, movie lighting people and such spend some time with her to give her a ‘glam’ look. All too often I’ve seen photo slideshows at Fox News of “stars without makeup” and some stars that are spectacularly, jaw-droppingly beautiful on screen or at professional photo shoots don’t look much better than Miss Brooksbank-Jones when they don’t have the “Hollywood machine” working for them. There’s definitely a ‘magic’ to Hollywood’s image management abilities and I’d hate to be disrespectful to Miss Brooksbank-Jones without her having an opportunity to be on the same playing field ;-)
Granted if she would keep her tongue in her mouth, quit cutting her own hair and get a professional makeup job she would be presentable.
However nothing is going to make her look like Angelina Jolie, nothing.
