“...and bums will be forced to hit the road...”
Song works for me!
One word misused and you wonder what?
Been around FreeRepublic since December 2010?
Most Freepers are not like you. I have been around the FreeReupblic for many years. Back when conservatives hated people that lived in Detroit and drove Hondas, while wondering why they could not get a job at a GM plant. I am a treasury bond broker and I broker north of a Billion dollars worth of treasuries per day. Let me give you $50 million worth of treasuries to buy while stocks are sinking 500 points and you may type with a typo or two. But, hey for a guy who grew up near 8 mile I am impressed that you caught the grammar error.
Not so sure about the game change in 2012. In 1980 we did not have 52% of the people in this country as “net-takers” from the government. Today you have that. When people the majority can vote themselves benefits and entitlements you have gone through an inflection point that is hard to cross back over. UGH!
You do not have to correct yourself on that post. We are not all from Detroit!
I posted ... "I became a Republican Precinct captain that year and mom, dad, and I were the only Republicans in the whole precinct."
YOU said, "That's just not credible."
I will make a wager with you if the moderator allows [probably not allowed!], your $100 dollars to my $1,000 that if you check the primary elections of 1982 that in Chicago's 23rd ward/50th precinct that my mother, father, and I were the only three Republicans [claimed at the poll]. I might lose if Alex [old guy across the street who came from the communist Check republic] was still alive. Before me he and his wife were the only two, but I think they died between 1980 and 1982. I remember my brothers laughing say that after all the work I did there were only three Republicans.
What the hell does Detroit have to do with anything? You're the one who wrote the vanity (and titled it, too). I used to work in corporate banking and handled Fed Settlements of half a bil, but I'm not sure what that has to do with anything. Were you trying to impress me? bzzzt.
And if you're focused on my user name, read my profile page. Or don't.
By the way, I'm a hard-core Conservative, but I don't hate people. Do I hate some people's actions? Yeah, but not people.
Reagan was elected in 1980 and you were 18. "Bankruptcy 1995" was published in 1992. Twelve years beyond 1980 brings your age to 30, not 25. Five years is, well, a discrepancy.
Apologies if I offended you.
Many counted among the recipient class, such as those on Social Security and Medicare, are staunch conservatives who spent years working and paying into the system on the promise of future benefits. Moreover, as in Eastern Europe under Communism, even the public at large eventually came to recognize and despise the supposed benefits of socialism. Finally, pro-growth economic policies have a potent appeal to those able to work and who prefer freedom and opportunity to the thin and demeaning gruel of federal handouts.
Oh, and by the way it looks like you have just neutralized yourself and the book was ...
Publisher: Little Brown & Co (P); 1st Paperback Ed edition (September 1993), not 1992!
Not offended, have a good weekend!
Certainly not trying to impress you! Just trying to tell you that while I attempt to post thoughts and I am also handling orders in a treasury market that is having 10bp tails on a 30 year auction, or a 10 year Note with a 70 bp move [a little different than handling fed settlements] in one week one may type “I read a book when I was was 25” when the book was published when he was 29, simply because it was read 20 years ago. However, when having a conversation with someone one does not expect the response to be ... None of what you are saying can be true if you said you read a book when you were 25, and the book was not published until you were 29. As I said to floozy, I will be my vague with the fringe details so you can better discover the substance.
I remember five years ago how many people were so sure that Hillary Clinton would be in office and had the idea of “there’s nothing we can do”. A very bad situation can become an opportunity for good practically overnight. It happens on a personal level and it can happy on a grand scale.
I agree. Obama has forced a lot of people to wake up. Palin is another one who has woke up a lot of people too, but for different reasons.
