'Eureka' canceled, sixth season plans dropped -- EXCLUSIVE
Entertainment Weekly ^ | Aug 8 2011 | James Hibberd

Posted on 08/09/2011 2:10:24 AM PDT by tlb

The 13-episode fifth season that was ordered last year, which includes a holiday special, is going to be the final season of Eureka.

Here’s a statement from Syfy:

“After painstaking consideration, we have had to make the difficult business decision to not order a season six of Eureka. But Eureka is not over yet. There is a new holiday episode this December and 12 stellar episodes set to debut next year, marking its fifth season and six memorable years on Syfy. The 2012 episodes are some of the best we’ve seen, and will bring this great series to a satisfying end.

We thank the fans for their support of this show and know they will enjoy its final season in 2012.“

No loss as far as I am concerned but I know some here like the show. Other then Twilight Zone reruns SyFy hasn't had anything for me since Caprica went away.

It is a shame because Eureka has really pulled it together in Season 5.

I am amazed they survived the completely craptacular Season 3. But the fans of the show demonstrated that they are nothing if not long-suffering, and gave them a second chance.

this turd ran longer than it should have... but it demonstrated the progressive agenda via demographics... so they allowed it.

meanwhile, rubicon and SGU were stopped. (i know, rubicon was AMC)

if you haven’t seen rubicon, you really should.

Oh, I thought this was season 5. I guess what I thougt was Season 4 was season 3.5, and I have been out of sync ever since.

It has been interesting to see how Felicia Day has really not worked out. I think a lot of people were hoping to see her get a shot at a high-profile series.

I never saw Eureka as being particularly PC. Maybe I’m missing something...

SyFy hasn’t had any decent programming in quite some time. Probably since someone over there decided that it was a good idea to broadcast WWF on a channel dedicated to science fiction fans.

Agreed. Firefly was a great show. Also, Terminator: the Sarah Connor Chronicles.

agreed... firefly is a show that shouldn’t have been cancelled

of course, the show was demonstrating individuals bucking against the all encompassing government

gee... wonder why that had to be cancelled

Loved Terminator. I don't know why it never made it. Summer Glau is hot in both shows.

Come on folks. It is a silly fun little tv show. They had some cool ideas and a good sense of humor. And the women were strong, smart, and hot: it doesn’t get better than that.

You're not. There was nothing PC about "Eureka". Some people want see things that aren't there.

This was one of the better shows syfy put out.

In my opinion, Carter's bumbling is/was getting old. After a couple of years there his character should have shown more awareness.

And, one of the hottest women on the planet is in this show...

Caprica?
Eureka fits the mold of watchable Syfy originals in that it has a sense of humor about itself, unlike Universe or Caprica. Why not get rid of Ghost Watchers instead? Hour after hour of “Did you see that?”

Agreed on Firefly and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Both great shows. There should be room for both of those series and Eureka on SyFy.

BTW, did you catch Lena Headey on White Collar on USA?
