Jackie Onassis believed that Lyndon B Johnson and a cabal of Texas tycoons were involved in the assassination of her husband John F Kennedy, ‘explosive’ recordings are set to reveal.
The secret tapes will show that the former first lady felt that her husband’s successor was at the heart of the plot to murder him.
She became convinced that the then vice president, along with businessmen in the South, had orchestrated the Dallas shooting, with gunman Lee Harvey Oswald – long claimed to have been a lone assassin – merely part of a much larger conspiracy.
Texas-born Mr Johnson, who served as the state’s governor and senator, completed Mr Kennedy’s term and went on to be elected president in his own right.
The tapes were recorded with leading historian Arthur Schlesinger Jnr within months of the assassination on November 22, 1963, and had been sealed in a vault at the Kennedy Library in Boston.

It is all very interesting and has been theorized forever but I’m wondering why Caroline agreed to release these tapes now.
The notion that it was to block a benign mini-series that was released anyway - even if she thought this would come out — would easily be dismissed with an.... I will not dignify this with a comment - comment. But to let these out now, near an election year, when 33 years remained on keeping them private, why?

No one was killed in Watergate.
Higher stakes make for tighter lips.
Recall, Mob interests in Cuba were lost when someone called off air support for the Bay of Pigs invasion. Millions in nightclub action were lost to the Communists' regime as well as smuggling opportunities.
There were plenty of reasons for people to keep their mouths shut, and an accident here, a suicide there, an unfortunate plane crash, all add up over time. People 'in the know' might even have died of old age.
Jack was no saint, either.
The marriage was likely one 'to the right sort of people' and I'd just about bet it was arranged (Rose's tendrils anyone?), as much for appearances sake as anything.
Maybe there really was something there, maybe not, but my bet is that what things appeared to be was of paramount importance, what happened out of the public eye was a very different reality.
Unfortunately, there were Kennedy worshippers (still are), and now we are faced with the current lot the media and idiots have been fawning over. Crimes will continue to be hidden at the highest levels for the duration unless the MSM gets the sight glass in its collective navel cleaned and really sees what they are doing to our country by not just supporting the current fellow, but shielding him from reasonable and serious inquiry.
