FReeper Fur-babies
Free Republic | 08/07/2011 | Bubby (He made me do it)

There are many here on Free Republic that absolutely love our "Fru-babies". We post pics and follow each other, well I thought it would be terrific if we post the pictures of our 'babies'.

I don't know about you all but mine 'get me through' these nightmarish days. They love me no matter what. They are there and want to be with me no matter what. That includes the way I now look in the mornings! LOL!

Show YOUR babies here... :) Here are a few of mine both past and present...

Thank you. They are not for all tastes (big, beards, sensitive) but very sweet and very loyal.

She did have allergy shots, weekly. The vet gave up on them this year and she is now only on steroids (and baths). We have been through it all, believe me. I always say if anyone has questions about dog allergies, ask me. I’ve been through 9 years of it in the worst way, as the vets say, trying everything known to man.

I was glad to see your Collie, BTW. I love Collies, too - would like if I could just have a Smooth. They’re my 2nd behind my GS.

No problem! People tend to assume dogs are males, and cats are females. I prefer them the other way around!

No rodent problem.
We live in the boonies, there are lots of rabbits and squirrels around.

Just not near the house.

She keeps the birds in check too. Free range mini-chickens on the wing, she calls 'em. ;-)

Lizzy is a very serious cat.

Oh, that’s where the Cardinals go in the summer.

Into Lizzy’s tummy.

There must be an award for love and patience and if there is you will win hands down.

Collies are outstanding furbabies but aren’t they all really? LOL...

That’s just a cat toy. She would never harm an actual living creature.

Oh! Is that one of the ones I sent her? I couldn’t recognize it, it’s being in her mouth and all. It’s great that she likes it so much.

Beautiful cats. What kind are they? They look like a mix between a Siamese and a Persian.

Yes, kind of a before and after. I didn’t need another dog but he was just so cute I couldn’t say no.

He has turned out to be a great dog. He is so smart. He is the only dog I have ever seen which would position himself so he can watch the other dogs in the mirror. They think he is not looking and will sneak up on him and then he will pounce on them.

Since you all mentioned your pets who are not longer with you, I thought I would pay a little tribute to my precious little ones who have gone to the rainbow bridge.

This is Lisa, whom I lost about two years ago. The most beautiful of the cats who have shared my life, when I got her she was just a tiny little ball of fur. When you held her it didn't seem possible that anything so tiny, beautiful, innocent and sweet could be real. I've always wanted another silver chinchilla but have not been able to find one. Silver Cinchilla's are distinguished by silver tipped white fur and black 'eye liner' around the eyes. (Like the 'Fancy Feast' cat on the TV commercials)

This is Isis, (who looks a little mean in this Halloween pic, but she was a very sweet natured cat) One day I went to the local animal shelter just to look around. When I came to the big cage where she and dozens of other cats were held, she came over, looked at me, and put her little paw through the wire as if to say, 'please take me home with you'. It was instant love. Isis was a born hunteress. I could not keep her inside. She would go to the door and beg me to go out. One rainy night she was late getting back home and I was worried about her. Finally, I opened the door and there she was. I picked her up to hug her and felt something cold and wet against my cheek. I ran to the light to inspect her and found she was holding a large wet, dead rat in her mouth as a gift to me! Bless her little heart. Whenever I was sick, she would lay in bed with me and never leave my side except to use her box and to eat. I loved her so much.

This is Bobby (I took his name from the old movie, 'Greyfrier's Bobby' about a shepherd and his little terrier). He had the most beautiful, silky coat I've ever seen on any dog. He was very smart and spunky (as most terriers are). He would always beg my mother to go with her when she went out, except when she got ready to leave with her scrubs on (she's a nurse). He knew he couldn't go with her then. He hated to get a bath. All we had to do is say 'bath' and he'd growl. LOL Very precious little one whom I'll always remember and love.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
