I just felt a hard jolt. The whole house shook. It felt something like a hard bump. My whole family felt it.
Anybody else in North Texas feel it?
“Sylmar quake of 1971 “
I was in Orange County when that quake hit. I don’t remember ever being scared by an earthquake until that monster hit. A friend had their pool emptied by the quake, with all the water roaring through their house like a tsunami.
I had the same experience when I was a college student in L.A. MANY years ago. I was living in an apartment in Playa del Rey, not far from the L.A. Airport (LAX).
At 5:00 AM, I suddenly woke up, and was lying their in bed for a few minutes, trying to fall asleep again.
Suddenly, there was a sharp but strong earthquake that lasted for about 10 seconds or so. It felt fairly strong, but I later found out it was only 2.0 or slightly higher on the Richter scale....a nothing of an earthquake by California standards. I later learned that I was nearly on top of the epicenter (according to the guy on the radio).
It’s the founding fathers turning over in their graves.
Yawn from California. Did the water in your pool slosh out?
There’s an opportunity here for a new website: earthquakeorjustme.com, patterned after http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com (abbreviated http://isup.me).
I remember the Sylmar quake. I lived about 20 miles from the epicenter.
It’s the strongest quake I ever felt. It seemed to last an eternity. All kinds of strange noises from the wood frame house. Windows rattling, floor shaking. Time really slows down when you are experiencing terror.
No one who’s been through something like that ever forgets it.
Them Fracer’s!
Don't yawn at me. I lived through California quakes for fifty years.
Yes, FR is AMAZING.
Scooped the Columbia disaster live (ht to leadpenny):

Remembered with sadness and pride.
Prayers up for all.
That was just 10,000 illegals storming across the open border at once, move along ...
...just the Texas Rangers bullpen caving...again.
Nothing in Allen.
They grow propane tanks where you live? :-)
Bahawaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.
Yeah, I just heard on the news there was some sort of event around here last night.
Dallas ?....someone stole all your copper and your a/c is missin
lol
Just a small shaker. 2.6 magnitude, which is just strong enough to notice if you’re sitting still.
The epicenter was 6 miles WSW of Dallas. Hit at about 11:45 PM last night. I felt it because I’m in Irving.
