Your graph shows the Hirnantian Glaciation that occurred at the end of the Ordovician Period. The Hirnantian glaciation has been compared with the Snowball Earth Glaciations. It may have been extremely cold. It caused the Ordovician-Silurian mass extinction event which represents the second largest such event in geologic history. Approximately 85 % of marine species died.

The Hirnantian Glaciation occurred while the CO2 level was 15 times pre-industrial level (4,000+ppm). It lasted about 1.9 million years with CO2 levels that high.

Cheap energy = prosperity for the masses, and a growth in human population.

The ruling-class swells want to live in a Walden paradise, free of the smelly peasants who get in their way and build houses on their vacation wilderness.

You have to make energy very, very expensive to get rid of them.

Pretend like burning "fossil" fuels is destroying the planet so you can cause energy prices to artificially "skyrocket."

Eventually, you set up a scenario where you get to starve all the inconvenient people.

Then you and your closest friends finally get to have your Walden paradise.

So what if you kill six or seven billion people to get it?

It's not about them.
