It might be a clerical error; however, most of that stuff is on forms on the computer where they change stuff up like names, dates; etc. However, there would have someone proof reading I would think.

Nope, these things go out with errors all the time. No one ever double-checks them.

You should see some of the stupid, convoluted minute orders we get sometimes. When you get them after the fact (say, after your attorney has been substituted in a case) it can drive you nuts trying to figure out what the heck the judge meant.

When that happens in family law we usually have to order the transcript and read the judge's actual words at the time he made the order, which costs $$$.

I work for my husband’s law firm, the forms only cover so much and documents like that have to be agreed to by both parties and they go back and forth with minute changes and, honestly, after awhile, you get so familiar with the ‘boilerplate’ that you tend to skim the documents looking for distinctions.

Proofreading legal documents is tiresome.

That said, it should have been caught. And the DOC should have verified with the judge (which is common) any probation while in jail (which is practically unheard of).

It could be a clerical error, but even so, it might be enough to keep her free as a bird. People guilty of far worse crimes have been cut loose because of “clerical” or “technical” errors. But never mind—she’ll be in the news again. I don’t think she’s capable of staying out of trouble, and she’s emboldened further by the fact that she knows she just got away with murder.
