Archbishop Jose H. Gomez of Los Angeles said on Aug. 3 that most illegal immigrants are forced to leave their homeland in order to provide a better life for their families.
Most of the men and women who are here illegally have traveled hundreds even thousands of miles. They have left everything behind, risked their safety and even their lives, he said.
They did this, not for their own comfort or selfish needs. They did this to feed their loved ones. To be good mothers and fathers. To be loving sons and daughters.
Archbishop Gomez made his remarks at the Knight of Columbus' 129th annual convention, this year held in downtown Denver, Colo. from Aug. 2-4.

He emphasized that immigration is not a problem but an opportunity.
Note: The quotes surrounding the term illegals are in the article source.
Hearing this makes me have hot flashes for ICE.
If the millions of mexican illegal aliens would have actually stayed in Mexico, and developed careers and jobs there, and hadn’t left their country, perhaps the crime element wouldn’t be running rampant and these tens of millions of mexicans could clean up their own country and make it a better place for themselves and their families ot live and work.
You know, if they really cared about their families and their country, they wouldn’t have left it and left a vacuum that got filled by banditos. You get 20 million mexicans coming home to clean house by overwhelming the crime elements in their country, it would be a massive step forward for Mexico, security wise and economically.
“most illegal immigrants are forced to leave their homeland in order to provide a better life for their families.”
Coming here illegally because your country sucks is not a valid reason for doing so!
Try: trespassers, liars, and thieves.
And you Archbishop Gomez: encouraging people to live a life of sin is not the duty of a man who claims to preach the Gospel of Truth.
If lives were in danger - it would be different.
This is a matter of people wanting more 'stuff'.
Its certainly OK to want 'stuff' - but not at the expense of living a life of sin by lying and stealing (as one does when they falsely represent themselves as being legal residents of a Nation) to achieve it.
Church and Justice Department bring lawsuits over Ala. immigration measure
I wish to credit Coleus who was kind enough to make me aware of the above.
Ping!
Pssst. The whole world relies on white people. Keep it secret.
And yet Mexico is touting it's high-growth economy projected at 5.5%. If that's true, why is Archbishop Gomez claiming that these illegals come here for a better life? Things are supposedly better there.
With all due respect for Archbishop Gomez: They come here to game the system and take from our entitlement programs. There's no defense for such illegal behavior. Period.
s/it's/its/I know better...I really do. :-)
They have chosen to be criminals first. They did not come to this country to assimilate.
Yeah, I'll give them "mothers and fathers, sons and daughters" first, but they're criminal alien invaders second. Get 'em the he!! out of here, I'm sick of their criminality and robbery of our treasury. The United States of America has an immigration policy, they are welcome to use it. muck ..xico
“Archbishop Jose H. Gomez of Los Angeles said on Aug. 3 that most illegal immigrants are forced to leave their homeland in order to provide a better life for their families.” Here, let me translate: Their home county is so screwed up because of the communist and/or socialist elites that they come here to find freedom only to find out that this country is headed down the same road as their home country.
People like Gomez are giving the Catholic Church a very, very bad name.
It's "interesting" that Archbishop Gomez chooses to completely ignore that key fact. And, as cited by the URL in post #7:
"The Catholic Church and the Department of Justice have filed lawsuits to stop the enforcement of Alabama's new immigration law, which Governor Robert Bentley calls the strongest in the nation.
This is just insane! It's the false "gospel" of social justice being preached instead of authentic Christianity.
Most illegal immigrants are here because the elites in their own Socialist countries treats their underclass like SH*T and feels that its better to outsource to the USA their own education and welfare programs.
Americans care about their kids, too. That’s why they don’t want their kids’ schools to be dangerous, overcrowded and ineffective. They don’t want their kids to be beaten up by illegal gang members, or to have to wait 18 hours in the emergency room, (which happened to a friend of mine recently,) or not even be able to FIND an emergency room because illegals have shut them down. Americans don’t want their kids to get diseases that were formerly eradicated in this country...or to be hit by an unlicensed, uninsured, and/or drunk illegal driver...or to be unable to get a job because they don’t speak Spanish...and on and on. So the Archbishop can spare us his phony sob story about criminal invader parents. In fact, he can stuff it.
We are all for people having better lives, but legally.
The Archbishop should be addressing the human rights violations in Mexico that contribute to them coming here. Americans are mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers also, and now there are many Americans having trouble putting food on the table and paying their bills while the illegals have the luxury of paying no taxes, using wic and foodstamps, and working for cash which is promptly sent to Mexico to prop up their country. they are rude, arrogant and refuse to assimilate. I have even been told that our country sucks by an angry illegal who didn’t have a dl or ID to purchase alcohol.
I feel sorry for them, but they are breaking the law.
One other thing. WE have got to stop the anchor baby thing.
