Its not a done deal yet, but lawmakers in Sacramento want a new law that would force all California hotels to start using 'fitted sheets.'
The law, is designed to cut back on hotel health problems for maids.
Supporters of the law - claim many of the injuries are preventable - if hotels started using fitted sheets and made other changes in the work load for hotel maids.
The California State Senate has passed a bill proposed by Sen. Kevin de Leόn (D-Los Angeles) that would help prevent or reduce housekeeper injuries.
"A representative of the hotel industry, led by the California Hotel and Lodging Assn., told a Senate Committee that if SB 432 passes, California hotels will have to spend an additional $15 million or more to buy fitted sheets to replace the sheets for 550,000 beds at $25 per sheet. "
Another new law...
Sometimes profanity is just too weak...
Is it any wonder why businesses are fleeing California in droves? Is it any wonder why no sane person would even think about opening a business there?
Mark my words, the push for marijuana legalization is bound to make a comeback soon because that’s going to be the only way the idiots running the state are going to be able to fill the tax coffers.
Unbelievable...
someone in fitted sheet biz needed a favor ?
I slit a sheet, a sheet I slit and on this slitted sheet I sit."
Like it’s the government’s business. Sheesh.
No more broken fingernails! Ever!
Too many of the anal orifices in the California legislature have never worked at so much as a pop stand in the lives, much less managed one.
Oh, good freakin’ grief.

If you are a California taxpayer you need the marijuana to escape reality. If you think the fitted sheets law is bad you have not seen anything yet. There is a state senator from my city who is pushing legislation to require all new homes to get more than 20% of their electricity from wind and solar. Pass the bong.
I have a better idea. Let’s fit every leftist idiot who voted for this law into a straitjacket.
Here’s the thing...how would one even know unless they had fitted sheet-police running around to check each hotel...every single day? Some maid wants to report them? Lay off the maid...you don’t have to say anything other than bad economy.
Somebody set him up the bong!
For Great Justice, of course.
How about sending all the hotel maids back to Mexico and the other countries they sneaked in from, and hiring careful AMERICANS???
Nanny State PING!
Are you f-in’ kidding me? Have they never heard of “hospital corners”? In the Army, you had to learn how to make your bed and there were no fitted sheets. You had to learn how to fit them yourself.
Au Contraire Pierre. Maid who reported hotel “laid off”? Not likely to go over well with the Labor Relations Board (or whatever the regulating agency is called).
I guess the point is that putting on a fitted sheet causes less repetitive hand injuries than fitting a flat sheet.
I call BS. I have horrid wrists. Every post I type on FR I have to type at least 4 times to get right because of hand injuries. And I actually hire someone to come in and put on fitted sheets for me.
If it was about reducing hand injuries, insurance companies would be all over this and companies would gladly pay the extra money to reduce workers comp claims. Not sure what the reason is but it is not hand injury.
First, the Rats say we are not getting enough exercise (Let’s move)....
Then they cry “exploitation!” when maids must to hoist a full sheet & tuck it in. Oh, the horror.
Rats, Why not mandate ALL HOUSEHOLDS use non-fitted sheets, for their ‘Exercise benefits’?
These guys are either (A) insane or (B) have way too much free time in their union’s Work Environment Committees...
A moving van is probably the preferred method for escaping the reality of California. The bonus is the taxes you pay on that will be the last ones they ever get from you.
