The good news is that as Emily heads over Santo Domingo, it will weaken significantly due to the mountain ranges.

Then send it over to Texas. We’ll take it off your hands(wish)!

Finally! All this GLOBAL WARMING and no hurricanes.
I’ll never forget the billboard somebody bought near downtown Orlando in 2005 basically telling us that it was George Bush’s fault that Florida was being overrun by hurricanes and we were going to get it even worse because he was the cause of GLOBAL WARMING!
Of course, ever since then it’s been pretty darn quiet.

Looks like the model maps have shifted more westward with a later northern turn since I last looked 2 or 3 days ago.
Will start keeping a more watchful eye on it.

Wonder if it will pass over Pico Duarte on Santo Domingo. At 10,000 feet the highest mountain in the Caribbean.

It looks like a wet weekend here in central Florida. No storm surge in Ocala, naturally, and probably (?) not too excessive winds.

It’s not forcast to strengthen much before it hits Hispaniola which will weaken it considerably. There might not be much left to restrengthen.

To: Elderberry
I was hoping it would somehow blow DC out to sea.

Even with a forecast trek across the Hispaniola mountains, the NHC is predicting a hurricane upon Florida landfall.

Big Daddy Goo-Goo highly recommends that everyone in the projected path of Emily get themselves cell phone car chargers. If you lose power, do you really want to be cut off from friends and family due to lack of such a charger?

I had a TON of canned meat stored away months ago but Mrs. Big Daddy Goo-Goo gave most of it away.
