Not really. B.C. make you have to add the years B.C. with the years A.D.. B.P. is just another way of saying "ago." That's much simpler.

You’re thinking of BCE and CE. Before Present is just a friendly way of totaling the time of an event without requiring the reader to do any math. You’re looking for an agenda where there isn’t one.

:’) BP isn’t the same as BC — the BP pertains (usually) to radiocarbon dating (I said usually because that’s the most common technique of radiometric dating in use) and the Present is actually 1950, which is when the RC technique was figured out.
