August 1 marks the 30th Anniversary of MTV. MTV revolutionized the way we looked at music and the VJs were a big part of shaping that vision. We want to know what it meant to you. Do you have fond memories of watching MTV or your favorite VJ?
Well collect your stories through the month of August and post them here on the site as we get them.
We will be accepting form entries starting Saturday, July 30th, 2011.
Entries may be edited and become the property of 80sVjs.com.
Still want money for nuthin and chicks for free
Remember the movie/lookback someone did on that whole thing a couple years back and to got played on TV exactly 1 time? Gee I wonder why? Perhaps it made the Dems look like total idiots?
Frank Zappa, Dee Snider and John Denver. What an unlikely trio. Only Dee is left.
I tell people I’m so old I remember when MTV used to play music videos. And the weather channel showed the weather. And the History Channel showed history.
Wrong site...Thats over at DU ;)
“All music, all the time.” (Its original slogan).
Amen amigo - and its been downhill since then!

Michael Jackson videos killed it.
One jump later and rap crept in.
I remember sitting in my ex-mother in law’s living room as the station first came on.
“Video Killed The Radio Star” and “White Wedding”.
OMG...the glory days.
I haven’t watched it since the early 90s.
Wanna see MTV again?
Watch VH1 Classics.
[wish somebody would bring back the old “Night Flight” program]
MTV is responsible for making me aware of a guy with awesome talent. Beavis and Butthead —> Mike Judge —> King of the Hill —> Office Space -—> Idiocracy!
Mike judge is the hombre!
VH1 Classics ROCKS.
Bill Mumy did that to you.
MTV started something good enough to be copied - which led to VH1 that was far better it too went astray in the end.
But VH1 bought a kick-ass set of custom jingles from JAM that still rock:

I feel sooooo old all of the sudden.
Daisy Fuentes was the hottest VJ ever.
24/7....:)
FUSE Tv is good too, if you can get it.
Far as I know, only DirecTV carries it, now.
I dumped Dish network back in March because *they* dumped FUSE TV and they were the only ones carrying the Rock And Roll HOF inductions and after all these years of bitching and petitioning, there was NO WAY I was *not* gonna see Alice -finally- inducted.
;D
MTV owns VH1 and VH1 Classics.
Love Alice too!
“OH YEAH!” to the RRHOF induction...
I love Daisy Fuentes’ clothes line at Kohl’s.......
