Why would all of the Palin supporters who bought her book not also want to see her movie?

Maybe they are holding out for the DVD so they can watch the movie more than once.

There is another possible factor...our country has been at the edge for a year now and there are certain politicians who have engaged the enemy in genuine, real-world fighting.

Sarah has spent much more time and energy in the marketplace than in the arena. Tweets and FB bombs don't really impress that much when the one tweeting and throwing the bombs has absolutely no skin in the game.

I appreciate your thoughful response.

Since the only TV that **I** watch comes from short clips posted online, and since I'm one of the "hard core" Palin supporters, I cannot easily put myself into the mind of the "target market" for this movie...

...someone who has NOT had the time to fully investigate Governor Palin's extraordinary record in Alsaka, but who HAS been influenced by all of negative attacks on her in the MainStreamMedia.
Still, I **have** talked to a fair number of those kind of people, AFTER they have seen "The Undefeated" -- and the results are uniformly (if not universally) positive.
So, I'm going to CONTINUE to find a way to get as many people as possible to see this "hearts-and-minds changing" movie -- with or without AMC.

Of course you should push for what you want...I think though that you will be disappointed because I genuinely think that she will not run.

I understand.

We should know — either way — by Labor Day. ;)

WOW! 4 more theaters! ...... AMC is sabotaging this thing. Typical Hollywood: Talk like sweet democracy advocates, but act like communists.

There are none so blind as those who absolutely refuse to see.

A communist will keep on showing a film, regardless of profit or loss, for ideological reasons.

A capitalist will keep on showing a film, regardless of ideology, when a film is bringing in the money and pull the plug, regardless of ideology, when the film is hurting potential profits.

===============

The Undefeated ... Box Office Numbers

Week: 7/15/2011
Gross for week: $65,132
Average per theater: $6,513
Number of theaters: 10
Total Gross: $65,132

Week: 7/22/2011
Gross for week: $23,400
Average per theater: $1,671
Number of theaters: 14
Percentage change from previous week: 64.07% DECREASE
Total Combined Gross: $100,085 10

===============

Whether you want to admit it or simply want to continue with your self delusion, the cold, hard reality is that the Sarah Palin movie bombed in geographic areas specifically chosen to be the most "Sarah friendly".

Sarah Palin is not dumb and she understands reality.

Sarah Palin knows that her supporters are extremely loyal but very limited in numbers. The movie numbers showed that: Most of her local supporters flocked to the theaters the first three days but the total number of supporters was so small that, after the first three days 3 days, the movie was playing to mostly empty theaters. Sarah will not risk going into personal debt to finance a political campaign that, like the movie, is doomed to failure.

My theory is that when she wrote the books she was still more unknown than known. Like it or not, her activities since then have been seen as more self-serving .....

For example .....

Sarah Palin was at the Mall of America (largest mall in the U.S.) on June 29, 2011, along with Bristol, for a book signing and the conduct was very telling.

Here were the rules laid down for the book signing:

Bristol Palin with Special Guest Sarah Palin Book Signing Wednesday, June 29, 2011 5 p.m. Rotunda

Look at Rule Number 4.

"4. You must have a copy of “Not Afraid of Life: My Journey So Far” in order to purchase a copy of “America by Heart” and/or “Going Rogue” signed by Sarah Palin."

In order words, if a potential Palin voter wanted to purchase a Sarah Palin book and have it signed, Sarah Palin would refuse to sign it unless that individual bought a copy of Bristol's book describing losing her virginity in a drunken coed camping trip.

That is not the behavior of an individual that is trying to court voters for a serious Presidential campaign.

That is the behavior of a family that is cashing in and trying to maximize profits right now.

Fewer people are interested in her. Bristol has not helped either - she gives a Kardashian air to the family name.

Then, when when a politician, that is supposedly serious about running for President, refuses to sign a copy of her own political book for loyal voters if those voters do not also by a book describing the teenaged sex escapades of her daughter ......

...... Let's just say that Sarah is not helping herself either.

Well, you have to admit that "engaging the enemy in genuine, real-world fighting" does not bring in the Big Bucks.

On the other hand, doing silly Reality TV shows with tabloid queen Kate Gosselin as your "enemy" does.

Ergo, Trademark....a strictly market-place driven mentality.

I want to see the movie so bad and then I heard two days ago that Columbus had been added. Well, it played today and that is the only day it is showing. Now I work and Columbus is two hours away. There was no way I could get there to see it with one day notice and one day showing. I’m guessing that maybe five people in the Ohio Valley even knew it was playing. I only knew because I kept checking the Undefeated web page. What did AMC expect if they didn’t advertise, or even announce that the movie was playing. When I get the DVD I will set up showings for groups. I plan on watching it on a big screen TV.

A friend with O4P tells me that this apparent “incompetence” we see in the “last minute” announcement of new venues is...

INTENTIONAL.

The theory is, the marketing people are DELIBERATELY pissing off “hard core” Palin fans, so that they will do even MORE to support this movie, motivated by their...

FRUSTRATION.

If this is true, part ONE definitely worked: I am pissed!
I am not yet sure how I feel about part TWO.

I finally did find out that the movie is playing in Columbus through Aug. 4, so I may yet find a way to get there to see it.
