What exactly is a Las Vegas designer?

I followed it quite a bit - and though I don't remember who wrote the book regarding the ransom note and ransom note analysis, it really did make me believe Patsy Ramsey wrote the note (actually, I thought her involvement was deeper).

The note also contained the ransom of $118,000 - which was the exact amount of John Ramsey's bonus that year.

Something only John and Patsy knew.

That was a really odd family.
Remember Patsy's aunt (Aunt Pam?) trying to “channel” JonBenet so she could say who the murderer was?

Right - pineapple was here favorite snack, and best I recall the timeline of it being in her digestive system indicated that she ate it soon after coming home.
But mom and dad Ramsey said she was so asleep when they
arrived home that John Ramsey had to carry her in, put her in bed and tuck her in.
When did she eat the pineapple, or who fed it to her?

Also, remember the panties she was wearing had been taken from a storage drawer because they were too large. They had been purchased in New york during a trip and didn’t fit. They had been put away until she grew into that size.
Someone knew where those panties were stored.

I believe someone entered the home while they were out at a party. This gave the individual hours to wander around the home and learn things that we assume only the parents knew.

The description of the crime scene screams sex crime to me. I don’t believe her family had anything to do with it.

That whole family is creepy.
I always suspected that the father was molesting the child, and the wife accidentally killed her in a fit of misdirected rage.

I have always wondered about the pageants. I wonder if a stalker of sorts didn’t see Jon Benet at one or more of them and focused his attention on her. I have always thought that presenting their daughter with dyed hair, “adult” type costumes, make-up etc... wasn’t like presenting a lamb to a pack of wolves.

The only ones thqt had a history with dead childrn was the clown and his crazy wife (Obviously mentally ill during interview). Even to the point of using a same sentence from the ransom note.

I wondered about that too.

Also, as I recall, the Ramsey home was one of several in the neighborhood open to view by the public for a short while before Christmas to show off their decorations. Some sicko could have seen JB at that time and made a decision to “come back later”.

Sounds like a darn good hunch to me.

IIRC Jon-Benet's body was very badly beaten. While it's inconceivable to me that a stage mother like Patsy would kill her child, it's even more inconceivable that she would do so in the way that this little girl was murdered.

Hi Verbosus,

The pineapple in JB’s digestive tract is one of the few bits of evidence in this case that can be proven scientifically. So much of the other evidence, such as John and Patsy’s odd behavior while waiting for the “kidnapper” to call, is open to conjecture and speculation. But that pineapple is a real bugaboo.

Science tells us that according to the placement of the pineapple in her digestive tract, she had to have eaten it anywhere from 2-3 hours before her death. No pineapple was served at the Christmas party her family attended and Patsy maintained JB had gone straight to bed when she got home. However, a bowl of pineapple was found in the kitchen/pantry area with Patsy’s and Burke’s fingerprints on the bowl. Did JB get up on her own, sneak downstairs and get some pineapple? How did she get up to the bowl and more importantly, NOT leave fingerprints? Did the “intruder” feed it to her, then keep her alive for a few hours before killing her? Why? Was he having his way with her? If so, why no DNA evidence?

On a side note, Det. Linda Arndt said, when John brought JB’s body up from the basement, she looked into his eyes and “just knew”. What did she mean? Later she attempted to change (or clarify) her statement, but her initial thoughts, before this case became a cottage industry, carry a lot of weight.

Or who did it?

Famed FBI profiler John Douglas made a very convincing case in his best-seller The Cases That Haunt Us that the family had absolutely nothing to do with JBR's murder. I've since agreed with this assessment and have come to believe that the family was targeted after Boulder PD botched the investigation so poorly that they had no other suspects to look at.

I do believe the crime scene was meant to look that way, but there is one big piece of evidence missing: DNA. If some perv got in, had his way with JonBenet, then brutally killed her, where is the DNA? This sicko wanted to touch, fondle and hold her and no matter how hard he tried, there would be significant DNA. If I remember correctly, investigators said her body had been cleaned up, but that wouldn't get rid of everything. If this was a sex crime there would be, uh, well lots of "evidence" left behind.

Investigators, particularly the FBI, immediately believed the ransom note to be odd. When JB's body was found IN THE HOUSE, they knew the ransom note was a phony.

Thanks, how did he explain the early $118k ransom note?
