The 400 richest Americans used to pay 30% of their income on the average to Uncle Sam. Today, they pay 18% on the average.
The main reason for the drop in their tax rate of some 40% is the tax cuts by George Bush in 2003, taking the rate paid on dividends and capital gains down to 15%.

Oh, I get it, Dems are all for raising taxes on everyone else, but they aren’t into PAYING taxes themselves!
Did you know that when fuel prices spiked in ‘08 that Nancy Pelosi and her hubby/mate made a cool mil or so off their CONFLICT OF INTEREST deals?

There are some things when we need a consolidated effort of monetary contribution to fund projects as you have described. The Interstate highway system is another, and that has been one of the best ever federally funded projects ever. Can you imagine driving from LA to NYC on a two or four lane road? The part I don't like is to pay for some of "holders' people" to have government supplied cell phones and free food / paid AC bills / mortgages /, etc.

Those top 400 pay more in taxes than the entire lower 50% that pay nothing.

So why this GOP hue and cry when Obama wants request
the same thing?
