Thank You House Speaker John Boehner

Thank you House Speaker John Boehner. While I am not positive that I will agree with your final proposal as is, I do want to say sincerely how much I respect you on this day and the nerve and, frankly, manhood you showed today in the face of President Obama and his failed agenda for our nation. While I am more conservative than positions you may take, today I really want to thank you for your statesmanship, stalwart maturity in the face of left-wing psychosis.

There is no doubt others will poke fun or belittle, which is perfectly fine. But in case you happen to have the time to read this forum or visit this site between battles, or be communicated regarding any feelings expressed by good people on this forum, and no doubt read or hear of some of the put-downs against you which is only the nature of honest Americans who are expressing their feelings and serious concerns, today I want you to know that at least for myself, I will remember you for what you said today in response to the President, and for your courage you have shown so far.

Thank you again, and keep up the good work.

In fear of sounding like an idiot, what was his response to Obama? I was out tonight and have no idea what was said.

Agreed. He presented himself professionally in contrast to the criminal that spoke before him. He was superb and deserves recognition for it.

So, is he writing the check to Obama for a trillion, or two and a half trillion? I can’t keep track. Payable by our grandchildren, of course.

Sorry to rain on your parade, but I’m keeping my eye on the bottom line.

Gosh, I'm just tickled pink that he's raising the debt ceiling so professionally!

They’ve all seemed to agree to raise the debt ceiling... which in itself a loss for the country. Now, they’re just haggling on how little to cut and how long down the line to punt the actual problem, namely out of control spending.

First off I would like to thank John, it is a real pleasure to see a Republican stand up for Republican ideals. Not take a modified Democratic position but to stand up and tell the Dems to go get lost. I would question your statement about Obamas failed plan for America. I think his plan is working out just as he and his Muslim pal planned, they want to totally destroy the U.S. and the best way to do it is to destroy our financial system, so I think Obama is sleeping well knowing he has just about destroyed the greatest Free Country on the Planet

They’re all just playing a game for public consumption and expect us to fall for it while they try to delay the inevetable collapse. IMO

I’m backing off on Boner for a while too. He’s showing some real leadership here.

I agree.

The idea of actually cutting entitlements (at least the ones to folks who never did or will pay any taxes) a little is unthinkable to all the congresscritters... and that’s whats going to have to happen to fix things (someday).

All they can do in the meantime is pretend for the cameras that they’re all “working on it” in their own ways.

Mind you... the solution Boner is proposing is merely a rounding error and will have absolutely no impact on our fiscal crisis other than to kick the can into 2012...

Unfortunately there will be no serious movement on the deficit, i.e., entitlement reform, until this president is gone and we have a Republican majority in the Senate. At this stage we're simply trying to minimize the damage to the country. It does us no good as a nation to default, or politically to shut down the government. Boehner is doing okay with what he has, and we can't afford to take a kamikaze stand on an issue we can't win, and which may doom our chances in 2012. In reality of course, we're just kicking the can down the road once again, but we haven't too many other options - we just don't have the numbers.

I get what you are saying Brian, but you just providing fodder for the bed wetters on this list. They hate any Republican more than Obama.

BUMP that!
Cripes, it's time to lay off the guy. Some people here forget that Boehner has to herd 240 GOP members of the House and keep them united in the face of relentless pressure from the Democrat "mainstream" newsrooms as well as, in some cases, their own cowardice.

My hat is off to Boehner and the rest of them for not caving.
At the end of the day, it's the result that counts.

I don't see any real need to pop Champagne corks for the guy doing what he was sent their to do. We are not sure exactly what they are going to end up doing yet. I agree that he is doing a good job now, but shouldn't that be expected all the time especially after he rolled over during the budget deal?

There is no doubt others will poke fun or belittle, which is perfectly fine.

Thanks for you allowing me to do this. I better post this before you look dimly on it.

Boehner’s Address to the Nation on Debt Talks

I’ve got news for Washington – those days are over.

I’m satisfied with what I have seen so far. He is in a difficult fight here and he has powerful forces opposing him. I’m surprised he has lasted as long as he has frankly. I hope he holds out until August 3rd. This government needs to get smaller one way or the other. I stand by my tag line.

Yes, thank you John Boehner for cutting 1 trillion over ten years. What is that, 100 billion a year when our yearly deficity is 1.8 trillion? Yeah that will make a dent.

I wonder how much of that 1 trillion is next year? Redstate is saying 25B. So, we raise the debt ceiling now by 1 trillion, and get a 25 billion cut. Way to go Boner!

Thanks also John Boehner for setting up a commission for future cuts. I’m sure Durbin and Pelosi and Schumer will really agree to some meaningful cuts.

Jim Demint and Jim Jordan oppose this plan. That’s all you need to know.
