An addict does not enjoy their drugs. Ms. Winehouse’s death comes at no surprise. I am just surprised by her so called celeb friends being so shocked. Everybody saw this coming even her mother.
It comes to a point in an addiction that your body needs the drugs to survive. This is when medical intervention is warranted. She just could not stop. So sad. What a talented woman...She had such a soulful jazzy voice. She got many young people to listen to jazz and R&B again.
Yes, very well done. I am a parent who is waiting for that phone call....I pray I never get it.

Part of Amy Winehouse’s European tour has been cancelled after the singer disappointed fans in Belgrade. Winehouse turned up to the concert late and appeared unable to remember the lyrics to her songs. (June 20)
There are a lot of legends in the industry who manage to do just fine in living a lof profile life, off of the studio set or when they aren’t out promoting a film. Many legends like Meryl Streep and Daniel Day-Lewis have avoided self destruction, why not Amy? I am really, really intolerant of the self destructive because they always hurt more than just themselves through their actions.

There really is no excuse these days. Not one, stinking excuse to end up like this. With all the money and support, she has had no excuse not to end up getting healthier.
I hate to use the word blame here, but her no account loser previous boyfriend, Blake Fielder, introduced her to drugs and started her down a path of destruction. Add a life long issue with depression, and it was a tragic, yet inevitable recipe for death.
Kinda a scummy thing to say. Nice to know compassion runs deep in your veins.
Lots of people go through worse with none of her resources to get better and end up living solid lives. She could have made drastic changes and ended up getting not just better, but reclaiming her career in full. I thought that a huge part of rehabilitation was to end up making substantial changes to your personal lifestyle, leaving behind these toxic influences. If she had finished a tour, fired the hangers on, and then started unloading a lot of her lifestyle, she could have saved herself. Seh then could have gotten medical treatment and then ended up with better health and then a huge comeback.
Throw in a bunch of interviews, and she would have been better and back and in a stronger position to end up being a huge role model and moving only upward and onward. It would have been difficult, but it’s that very difficulty that would have been so inspirational.
She probably thought, like so many young people that she was invincible and it couldn’t possibly happen to her. Truly sad. Your right about her celeb friends, why shocked? Is the world that she lived in, in such denial they couldn’t see? Or were they truly not real friends just faux friends who would rather not rock the boat. Faux friends will let you kill yourself and never once try to intervene, because they just don’t care enough.
Amy knew she was riding the death train from the beginning....you cannot help people who refuse it , which she did refuse many times until close brushes with death. When you play on that wire you’ll eventually fall...and she did.
A complete wasted talent by a woman who could not handle her success nor her drug and drinking habits.
I got to meet him in Ct. when “Bloody Kisses” came out. He had that amazing, unique voice and he was a hell of a nice guy. I was quite upset when he died.
Amy’s father has said that she had given up drugs but not alcohol. Also reported that she told Security at 10 that she was going to sleep and 6 hours later rigor mortis had already set in when they found her.
Well those sales now are shooting up the charts....death is a good career move.
So was I.
I even repainted my Harley and changed my vanity tag.

Thats basically it. There are some personalities that love the attention and there are some that cant take it which leaves them so unhappy that they turn to drugs to forget about it.
In any case you are very naive if you think that meryl streep or daniel day lewis have not done drugs, hard ones at that. I know loads of high flying business types that you wouldnt think would be snorting lines of cocaine but do so, its just some people can handle the addiction and dont let it get out of control, while some others cant handle it.
Also, the type of attention amy winehouse got from her loser fans who cry when they would see her as if she was the messiah was not comparable to meryl streep. Look at lady gaga, the only difference is that lady gaga does these over the top things because she craves the attention of the peasants.
Amy winehouse was in a relationship with her bodyguard, which psychologically makes sense; she needed to be with someone she felt could protect her from the madness around her.
I never understood why people couldnt buy and appreciate music without going apeshit over the artists lives. I love the mavs but i dont give a rats ass about what dirk nowitzki is doing at the moment or who is his wife or whatever personal problems he may or may not have.
