TNT is remaking DALLAS!

TNT has given the greenlight to DALLAS, an all-new series based upon one of the most popular television dramas of all time, about the bitter rivalries and family power struggles within a Texas oil and cattle-ranching dynasty. Famous for its ratings-grabbing cliffhangers, the original series was known for its wealth, seduction, scandal and intrigues. Set in the big state of Texas, TNT's new DALLAS — from Warner Horizon Television — also lives life large and in the fast lane and brings a new generation of stars together with cast members from the original drama series. The new DALLAS stars Josh Henderson (90210), Jesse Metcalfe (John Tucker Must Die), Jordana Brewster (Fast & Furious), Julie Gonzalo (Veronica Mars) and Brenda Strong (Desperate Housewives), and they will be joined by iconic stars Patrick Duffy, Linda Gray and Larry Hagman as J.R. Ewing. TNT has ordered 10 episodes of DALLAS, which is slated to premiere in summer 2012.

Most of the action will be on K Street as J.R. has to spread billions around Washington to be able to drill on his own land.

Hopefully Bobby will come out of the shower and the whole Obama administration will be written off as a merely a nightmare.

Yawn. Can’t they find any new teleplays worth considering for a series?

Geez that is all we need is for those idiots in Dallas to believe their own press again.

I could work.

I liked the Dubai reference. It would be great if there were regularly-appearing characters drawn from oil nobility elsewhere in the world.

I read Steve Coll’s “The Bin-Ladens: An Arabian Family in the American Century” a few years ago and heck, they were just like the fictional Ewings! There was the patriarch, many more wives and mistresses, sons and daughters, worthy heirs and black sheep (you-know-who) and ne’er do wells aplenty. Scandals, wars, shady dealings and noble endeavors. Never a dull moment.

Can they remake it without the awful US75/I635 interchange?

And the real reason that the original TV show Dallas was such a huge success...Americans were tired of the miserable Carter years, conserving energy, gas lines, wearing sweaters, etc. Dallas offered wealth, glamor, capitalism and was a welcome diversion. :)

Just in time to give Obama another platform to rail against "millionaires and billionaires."

I bet this version has Obama's secret "arts army" planting subliminal messages into the show about what happens when you get rich off of dirty oil and filthying the earth.

Same here, I was getting excited. Dallas is a real PITA on the way to Oklahoma. Costs me at least an hour of extra travel time.

With the Jimmy Carter’s 2nd term it feels like the 70’s, so they might as well redo all the 70s TV shows. How ‘bout BJ and the Bear next.

I’m fond of Dallas because it helped me learn German when I moved to Switzerland. It was dubbed into German but the plots were so obvious the language became easy to figure out.

I used to love how the German voice actors would say “Sowsse Foak” (south fork) and “Deddy.” (Daddy)
