LONDON (AP) Amy Winehouse, the beehived soul-jazz diva whose self-destructive habits overshadowed a distinctive musical talent, was found dead Saturday in her London home, police said. She was 27.
Winehouse shot to fame with the album "Back to Black," whose blend of jazz, soul, rock and classic pop was a global hit. It won five Grammys and made Winehouse with her black beehive hairdo and old-fashioned sailor tattoos one of music's most recognizable stars.

“...Wow, what is it with dead druggie musicians dieing at 27?...”
Thats from the Department of Redundancy Department
may she rest in peace! However self-inflicted her problems were, she was troubled and couldn’t escape them.... until now.
I am so sorry. Reading and hearing about these tragedies must be heart-wrenching for you.:^( May God wrap His arms around you.
“Her choice. NEXT!!!!”
You know, anyone who heard her, even if they were not a fan of that style of music, would certainly admit that she had genuine article God-given talent. She could sing effortlessly - I think that she had a “perfect ear” and didn’t even have to work at singing.
It’s very hard for me to “feel sorry” for her - there are a lot of people in this world who have problems through no fault of their own who I can feel sorry for, and there’s only so much to go around. I suppose I DO feel sorry for her family and friends who no doubt did everything they could do to help her, and probably to their own detriment.

Good. God. Almighty.
I hate to see this happen to anybody, but it’s no surprise. But people continue not to listen, it’s the old “Won’t happen to me” theme.
33 seems to be a bad age for actors: Dana Plato, John Belushi, and Chris Farley being probably the best known.
I never saw much talent there, like most modern pop singers. No range, one style of music, nothing technically difficult, just the overdone riffs or licks or whatever they call that excruciating aaaaaaaaa stuff. Once I heard that style once, I had my fill of it.
Are there any videos of her singing anything at least moderately difficult ?
Pop musicians today are all “marketing of a lifestyle” and no talent. Sheeple fans aren’t appreciating the talent (though they swear they are) because they wouldn’t know an aria from an arpeggio, they like the “concerts”, videos, cool (decadent) clothing styles, and the fact that their “hero” singer is such a “rebel”, boozes, sexes and drugs their way through cool party places all night. And the music business passes out “grammy awards” to themselves to keep the profits rolling in from the sheeple.
LOL..you can say that again ;-)
Ditto.
Why is it that the people IN “the arts” are always head-over-heels about some of the most despicable, morally challenged persons in their profession??
Like you, I still don't know and don't even know why I should know!
By the way, does that mean that the name 'Winehouse' is now available for use?
Those two pictures side-by-side say it all.
And I didn’t know you were God. Unlike you, I expect that God will look at my record and point me to the down elevator. I would never presume that I am righteous.
I don’t have a lot of pity for people who deliberately destroy their lives as Ms. Winehouse has done. Sure, lots of people get involved in drugs and excess alcohol, and the ones who are smart, who take seriously the responsibility God gave them to keep their “temple” in good shape, get help for their addiction and get themselves cleaned up. Ms. Winehouse had plenty of opportunities to clean up and she refused to do so. So forgive me for not being sympathetic to every loser out there, but it’s that sympathy that encourages us to constantly prop up people like her They will never take responsibility for themselves, and we can’t take care of everyone. If they will not look after themselves, then I really don’t care what happens to them.
You've run the range of emotions in the years previous - disbelief, anger, resentment, hope, disappointment, fear, a little hope, financial fear, collapse, despair, love, heart break, love and then the crushing sense of loss when you find him or her dead. God provides hope, but you won't feel it for a while.
2 years later I am still pretty numb and miss him everyday. I don't miss the absolute misery he was in, but I surely would love to give him a hug.
Terrible, sad for whatever family she has (I think her husband’s out of prison now). But of course, no one had a gun to her head.
Did anyone hear something?

Sounded more like a cat in pain to me.
Guess I don’t have a lot of sympathy for someone who works that hard at destroying themselves. And no, I do not see any signs of great talent in her.
