Im of the opinion theres a weird correlation between talent and mental problems. I think it's in the expression of talent. Talented but mentally "stable" people are often conformists who fear to step out and publicly show what they are capable of. Less talented "crazy" people don't care what others think, so they find creative expression easier.

27 — the same age Hendrix, Joplin, Morrison, and Cobain died.

I disagree with you on the amount of talent she had.

She was someone who made it to the top, then couldn't handle it. Her public spiral downward with drug abuse was sad to see. She was in a lot of dead pools this year.

Before her train got on the wrong track

 Pity.

Excellent choice for a video clip.
I’m quite sad she’s dead, although it never seemed like there was any hope for her.

In the 60’s I caught Joplin a few times at small clubs in Greenwich Village. Her set would last about 90 minutes, and she’d knock off a FULL QUART ( not a fifth, a quart) of Southern Comfort during it..unreal

I'd never known her to look like she did on the right. Interesting.
No new details but BBC's story here

Wow. What a voice. I'd never heard of her. Genre really isn't my thing, but no disputing the talent.
And the video was great! Who is that artistic?
