It is unconscionable that extremist groups circulate letters which accuse me of horrific things, saying that I am a traitor, that POWs in Hanoi were tied up and in chains and marched passed me while I spat at them and called them baby killers. These letters also say that when the POWs were brought into the room for a meeting I had with them, we shook hands and they passed me tiny slips of paper on which they had written their social security numbers. Supposedly, this was so that I could bring back proof to the U.S. military that they were alive. The story goes on to say that I handed these slips of paper over to the North Vietnamese guards and, as a result, at least one of the men was tortured to death.
That these stories could be given credence shows how little people know of the realities in North Vietnam prisons at the time. The U.S. government and the POW families didnt need me to tell them who the prisoners were. They had all their names. Moreover, according to even the most hardcore senior officers, torture stopped late in 1969, two and a half years before I got there. And, most importantly, I would never say such things to our servicemen, whom I respect, whether or not I agree with the mission they have been sent to perform, which is not of their choosing.
But these lies have circulated for almost forty years, continually reopening the wound of the Vietnam War and causing pain to families of American servicemen. The lies distort the truth of why I went to North Vietnam and they perpetuate the myth that being anti-war means being anti-soldier.

Hanoi whore. Has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it?
Bad behavior is still bad behavior and it still isn’t right, no matter how richly she deserved it. Although, I’ll admit that I grinned when I saw the pics of Mz Fonda with a big brown splat of tobacco infused saliva on her face.
She should be held accountable. Every surviving POW should have a chance to be alone with her in a room.
She's really getting hammered on her FB by Vets. Good. [I don't FB, otherwise, I'd join in].

Let’s see born in 1937, appeared in propaganda for the NVA at age 34 in 1971. Hardly “young”, but certainly ignorant. And at 74 still doesn’t get it. There’s nothing more pathetic than an OLD liberal. Usually people wise up long before that.
Hardest part is not saying what I really want to say. If I did, the comments would never be posted :-)

The Holzers, in addition to being patriots and authors, are lawyers with a clear sense of historic and legal precedent.
Now comes the infamous Hanoi Jane in her best Miss Piggy "moi?".
Isn’t just Nixon. It like the Holzer’s said during their Booknotes presentation. Nobody has the stomach to prosecute for treason anymore. John Walker Lindh (American Taliban) wasn’t prosecuted for treason, for criminy sakes.

Jane Fonda RARE BIO pt 8
In this clip, she is shown (at 4:18 in the video) seating herself at an anti-aircraft gun. See if it fits her recollection of what happened. (Somewhere, I saw her actually looking through the sight of one of these guns, but it doesn’t show that here.)
This clip also has (starting at 6:04) testimony from a POW who talks about being tortured at the time Jane was visiting. See if that fits with her contention that torture had stopped 2-1/2 years before she got there.
Realpolitik requires chaos, totalitarianism, access to vast supplies of profitable drugs.

LBJ would not mine Haiphong and bomb Hanoi yet he jumped up the war JFK was leaving.
The Day It Became the Longest War
Treason would be Clinton with Trie, Schwartz, Armstrong, Lee selling America's security.
Treason is the currency of the extant administration.
When Goldwater ran against LBJ:
Treason never prospers; what's the reason?
For if it prospers, none dare call it treason.
JFK got us into Vietnam, and he wasn’t leaving, that is the left trying to rewrite history.
She was ‘’exhausted’’ and an ‘’emotional wreck after the two week visit’’. Oh Poor Jane. American POWs and soldiers fighting we just having a grand old time of it though and this pampered Hollywood ,self-important Marxist bitch was ‘’exhausted’’.
Yes and I remember the first one, that attended her hugely popular exercise tape. I just meant she went to far greater lengths, formally, this time, to ‘clarify’ everything she
really only touched on before.
And?
She was a tool in that Hollywood used her.
I’m not saying she’s innocent, just that they used her to make money.
She has been over the years a contradiction herself.
Why people are still talking about her is beyond me.
Well...there’s always the media attention...
NSAM 263: He was pulling out. That's a large part of why he got nailed. The left of which you speak would be Noam Chomsky denying he was any different than LBJ.
LBJ "got us into Vietnam" with his Tonkin Gulf hysteria.
Then he blew the prosecution by not bombing Hanoi and mining Haiphong.
The Day It Became The Longest War
Then Johnson wimped out in March, 1968, whining that the North beat us with the Tet Offensive--when Bui Tin said they were done.
That's when the Fonda-Kerry-Wimpy LBJ gave them the hope to continue.
The failure, said Bui Tin, was not closing the Ho Chi Minh Trail.
Johnson's sanitized target lists and sanctuaries allowed that.
No, Kennedy was roundly criticized by the likes of Dealey the editor of the Dallas Morning News as "riding Caroline's tricycle."
Yet it was LBJ who cursed the Joint Chiefs when they came to the White House in November, 1965 for his permission to mine Haiphong and bomb Hanoi.
LBJ was screaming about World War III--that kind of thing was amusing to the North Vietnamese leadership.
When Nixon went to China, the term for the Vietnamese was dogs.
JFK was pulling out the 16,000 advisors; LBJ was fighting a limited war.
The entire issue of the Powell Doctrine was due to the failure of Johnson's limited war concept.
Overwhelming force is the main thrust, a concept LBJ shunned at every turn.
JFK was leaving the field; it's in NSAM 263.
All U.S. personnel to be out by end of 1965.
Kennedy wasn't my guy, nor LBJ.
I went to New York with Young Americans for Freedom in 1964 to draft Goldwater.
The one who was going to get us into a war, or get the world destroyed--
--whatever Church Lady Bill Moyers meant with a little girl plucking daisy petals.
Fonda wasn’t young and naive, and becoming a famous Oscar winning actress and making millions of dollars in the career that she chose was not being used by Hollywood at all. Fonda made smash films and won honors and awards galore.
I don’t know why you want to defend her, or find fault in patriots and veterans that despise her and are glad that she just lost this gig.
She would probably be amused to find a fan here at FR.
