The "Country Strong" star, 38, recently dished to a crowd at a London charity event that she and her husband, Coldplay rocker Chris Martin, are planning on raising their children Jewish, according to the Daily Mail.

Even thought her Jewishness comes from her fathers side, technically making her not Jewish, she still feels the pull to teach her the ways of Torah. Only according to the Rabbis;
YHvH in His WORD counts lineage
only through the Fathers.

As far as she knows the Jewish lineage comes from her father’s side only which according to the rabbis does not make her Jewish.

True, but you can never question if the mother is child’s parent whereas the father there can be uncertainly. Plus, the mother is the heart soul of the culture.

Yes, son of the King, but not a Jewish man.
Go look up his mom.

Leviticus 24:10 speaks of the son of an Israelite woman and an Egyptian man as being “among the community of Israel” (ie, Jewish).
On the other hand, in Ezra 10:2-3, the Jews returning to Israel vowed to put aside their non-Jewish wives and the children born to those wives. They could not have put aside those children if those children were Jews.
There is an extensive section on this in Dueteronomy, too, but I don’t have time to hunt it.
