Is the military the U.S. institution you trust the most? Is Congress the one you trust the least? This article gives you a change to vote.

“organized religion?”

That, and the other choices offered, show the mindset of the authors

Just voted, but the number of voters is awfully small.

Totally agree on the military being most trusted.

Were a congress-critter in my domicile, I’d want to have him/her watched at all times, lest they steal something.

I would say that a large majority of the inner workings of the US are not even fully understood because nobody really teaches how our country really functions any more.

IMO, two nice, concise flow charts showing 1) how money flows from an individual’s pocket through the business world, into the fed’s coffers and then back out and 2) how laws and their effects flow from local, state and federal congresses into local, state and federal executive branches and their sub-level bureaus would go a long way in educating many Americans.

I think this poll is using “trust” when they really mean “support”. I “support” the US Military, I'm not sure if “trust” even enters into the equation. Trust them to do what? Obey Orders? Do their jobs? Not take over the country and install a military dictator? Not drop a bomb on my house by mistake during a training exercise? Or to put it in different terms, I “support” a lot of businesses, organizations, politicians etc. But I only “trust” friends, relatives and coworkers I have known for a long time.

The military is the only organization designed specifically for a SHTF situation. As we move closer and closer to full on SHTF and TEOTWAWKI the military become the guys you most want around.

Just watch Whale Wars and you will see what happens when you get a bunch of hippies out away from civilization. The ship is always broken, the crew is always lost. They run into a full on storm and don't even bother to secure their personal gear. The Navy does that day in and day out no big deal. Heck the Coast Guard goes looking for that kind of weather. That's because the military has training and discipline. Those traits combined with a sense of honor is what makes the difference in a world falling apart.

And look at the other groups that are respected. Organized religion, once again training, discipline, honor. I have had the privilege of working for the Alexian Brothers, who run several hospitals here in the Chicago area. Sure the training of a monk is different than that of a soldier, but still the monks know what to do, have the discipline to do it, and the honor to discharge their duties without favoritism.

Those groups that lack one of the key traits of training, discipline and honor will fail in the crisis. Those that lack two or more will be what cause the collapse.
