"An Exclusive Look at 'The Hobbit' Dwarves" Peter Jackson's upcoming film, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, has been hotly anticipated by everyone from Tolkien obsessives to film buffs. The crew behind the movie, including Jackson himself, has kept fans salivating by documenting the movie's production through blog posts and videos. But TIME is the first to bring you this image of two characters from the film, dwarves named Balin and Dwalin. Aidan Turner as a dwarf
Between Peter Dinklage as Tyrion (a huge percentage of nerdettes and girl geeks have a thing for Tyrion/Dinklage) and now Aidan Turner, we might see a bit of an easing of the 'anti short guy' bigotry that has gone on for far too long.
(Yes, I know Turner isn't really short, much less a dwarf like Dinklage...Work with me here.)
Turner looks great, but I think he looks less like a Tolkien dwarf, and more like a Pini ElfQuest elf:
