"The Big Broadcast is a Sunday night tradition for families throughout the WAMU listening area. Each week, Big Broadcast host Ed Walker offers listeners priceless recordings of popular radio programs from the '30s, '40s and '50s. Priceless, especially, for a man whose first sentence as a child was, 'Turn the radio on.' "

Hi, Vision and SteelYourFaith!
I didn’t notice two 1 hour programs. I need to check again. Does that mean maybe the lineup will not be as reported by WAMU?

Ha, that's because I'm off. I was looking too quickly and thought RD and NBC Theater were both 1 hour programs.

There you go...no more lineup.
You know, there are MANY old time radio shows. Why go back to dragnet again???
He really doesn't do justice to what is available.

I too wonder why Ed doesn’t offer more variety. Much of Old Time Radio is in the public domain.

Mr. Walker probably got an “earful” from Dragnet fans. We love Dragnet, but you’re right—there are plenty of great old time radio shows.
I have always encountered the same thing in commercial music radio. People complain that we don’t play all the great music made in, for instance, the “oldies” or “classic rock” formats.
I’m the first to agree with that. Radio “consultants” claim the public does not want more variety. The wizards of smart claim the public wants repetition of a small number of songs. I heartily disagree.

Me too. Love mystery and scary. And multi-episode adventure series, like those written by Carlton E. Morse. There’s some pretty clever comedy out there as well.
