So it's been almost five years since I had a box of fried clams from the clam shack. Now something you should know about fried clams, they are delicious when you are eating them and just the smell of them before you start eating them is one of the best smells on earth. But after you eat them, you immediately start to regret it. They sit heavy in your stomach and you get bloated and all bound up. It is literally days before you can get them out of your system and that is after eating bowl after bowl of oatmeal with raisins. Anyway, at the beach a couple weeks ago, I give in to temptation and order the $28.50 large box of fried clams. Those clams literally disappeared down my stomach in a matter of minutes. They were so good. But I paid the price for days afterwards and I was so bloated that I went nearly 24 hours without eating a single thing.

(If you want off my "fried clam" ping list, please email me using my private email address and have in the subject line "No More Fried Clams") Note: Getting off my fried clam ping list does not automatically remove you from my steamed clam ping list

The last time I ate fried clams, I was sick for three days.

Do you have a salmonella ping list?

Thanks for the belly laugh. Metamucil is your friend. Please add me to your fried clams list.

SA76?

Is your "fried clam" ping list the same as the "fried clam strip" ping list?

Because I always preferred to go to the local Howard Johnson's restaurant on Wednesday night, which was All-You-Can-Eat Fried Clam Strips Night, rather than any other night of the week. Because I like fried clam strips. But I also like fried clams.

I've had both fried clams and fried clam strips and believe they shouldn't be considered as the same food, much like deep dish Chicago-style pizza and New York-style pizza shouldn't be considered as the same food for the sake of comparison.

You see, fried clams have that rounded, juicy clam-belly part that tastes good, but you don't want to bite it in half and then look to see what's left on your fork or in your fingers in the "didn't-go-in-the-mouth-clam-belly" part. Because the innards of a clam aren't pleasing to look at, but only to eat.

While clam strips, on the other hand, don't have all that clam-belly goodness, but you can bite anywhere on a clam strip and not worry about looking down at what's left on your fork or in your fingers.

So, for that reason, I consider fried clams and fried clam strips to be different and could eat fried clams on a Tuesday night and then have fried clam strips on a Wednesday night and not feel as if I was eating the same thing two nights in a row.

That's why I ask about the ping list. Because I don't mind being on both a fried clam ping list and a fried clam strip ping list.

They're like . . . different.

Do you know what I mean?
