Nebraska girl born with no arms and legs has blamed unfair scoring after she failed to make her school's cheerleading squad three years in a row.
Julia Sullivan, 16, has complained to the school board after she said she was given 'no accommodation for her disability' during try-outs.
The wheelchair user did not make the team after she received a low score in the jumps/kicks category of the trials.
Miss Sullivan got her highest marks in the communication skills and enthusiasm/spirit categories.
The Aurora High School student, who said that she likes to dance, said: 'I just think it would be fun.'

Maybe her parents are the kind who tell their child "you have no limitations!"
If so, they are doing her a disservice, and not preparing her for the real world.
The girl was ALLOWED to compete, and did not receive high enough marks in the areas required (jumping, kicking, etc). Surprise, surprise.
Another article on this says her parents are SUING the school. Another great example of poor parenting.

If she were a Muslim, she would automatically make it AND the entire cheerleading squad would be forced to wear head scarfs!

So, if she decides to run a track meet, the judges and rest of the competitors also have to factor in her disabilities, too?

I think it would be fun to fly fighter jets, but to quote my Dad, son he said, it ain't happening so get real. This kid is not being helped by her parents. Encouragement is fine, but you need to be realistic as well.

Gotta feel sorry for the kid. I'm sure there is a lot she could do. But an activity which requires a lot of jumping and kicking isn't one of them.
It reminds me of a joke floating around when we were kids. The boys go over to one of their armless, legless friends house and ask "Can Jimmy come and play baseball with us."
The Mom says, "Certainly not! You know Jimmy has no arms and no legs.
"We know," the kids protest "but we need a third base bag."

She is part of the new progressivism, Obama’s World.
1) Everyone is a winner.
2) No one keeps score, because everyone is equal.
3) If you don’t get your way, hire a lawyer and sue.
4) If it “sounds like fun,” then by golly, it’s your RIGHT. Elbow your way (pardon the pun) to the front of the line, and everyone else be damned.
5) The world OWES you.

Despite good intentions, one does need to know their limitations. As such, I am not seeing the unfairness of the cheerleading tryouts.

Like we’ve known for years now...the minority now commands the majority. We have one well-known chair-guy like her who goes around L.A. suing businesses for not having ramps for the wheelchair rollers.

Hey, reasonable accommodation.
Build a ramp to get her to the top of the pyramid.

My heart goes out to her, but we all have to live the reality we are given.
God, grant me the serenity,
To accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things I can,
and wisdom to know the difference.
I pray our Creator grants her, and her parents, "wisdom". In Jesus' name, Amen.
